Ha, I wore a stripy colourful dress with boots and a cardi
As it happens I didn't even take my coat off though. They were just closing the school when I got there - at 2.15 - seemed a bit pointless to me cos as soon as they'd got in touch to get all the parents to collect their kids it would be hometime anyway surely!
Still pouring here too - hope it's OK tomorrow so I can meet me Head friend!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Yay flood day! ...That does not have the same ring to it as a snow day, but still. Sounds like you're making some progress though (even if it is 1 step forward, 2 steps back! Bloody universe)
It's strange there's no rain here at all, Lincolnshire is such a microclimate. Not complaining though. 3 months til Christmas today! Which is forever really, but I want it to hurry up so I can get festive in a none student/parents house!
Is there much else you have to get done for your application apart from the experience? I have visions of a 20 page personal statement or something equally fun.

Yay, great steps forward on getting experience there Tete, and why on earth did you take today as a flexi day? You couldn't get to work, home was the only place to be for your safety.
I've had a second fabulous day at DD's school and thankfully feel less tired than I did last night when I got home with her after her club and just had to sit down for a good half hour as I was rather tired and achy!!
Today I was with the same class again and finished off the painting we started yesterday, did some helping with their first letters and spent a bit of time with DD's class at lunchtimeAfter, we hotfooted it to our Rainbows group's belated summer trip to a local farm play place and had a lovely time, but I really enjoyed my slab of cake and cuppa, needed it after all that!
So different to my office work but I'm kind of wishing I'd been made redundant years earlier as I love being in school........0 -
EEEEKKKKKKEEEEEKKKKKK!!!!! One week's work experience in a Y3 class starts on 8th October!!!! Actually quite scared now haha!!!
Glad you're enjoying your time Kitty, I love that you're exhausted - that's what I want from a job, something really tiring but in a good way! At the moment I'm exhausted after work because I spend all my time doing niggly annoying things and it wrecks my head.
That's scary about how close Christmas is Archers, I just don't know where 2012 has gone! Also 4 weeks today til I travel down to London for my NYC trip! Eep!
Payday today so I've been doing the Money Shuffle a bit. I have £800 spending money saved for NYC, not including the play we're seeing and our NYC passes which are already paid for. Need to look properly at a budget though, hoping this will be enough!
Stopped raining here, but the roads are still chaotic so I'm in my old office today - took me forever just to get here! It means I'll have to rearrange my lunch date with SuperHead but I'm sure it'll be doable. I told my boss I was taking a flexi day but I won't, no-one ever checks our flexi record thingsWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Yay, great news about getting a week's experience sorted! :T
How long are you in NYC for, is it a week? I'd say £800 is do-able, but maybe £1000+ would make it a little more comfortable if you want to buy yourself some treats, which I'm sure you will
How's your weightloss going? I've done loads of exercise -for me- this week (Zumba on Monday, Badminton yesterday lunchtime and today then again tomorrow!) which is good... but seems to be counterbalanced by the fact that it is making me starving so I'm eating more!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
£800 should be doable for a week if you don't want to do too much shopping, transport is cheap as the subway costs next to nothing and you walk most places anyway. Food is expensive and make sure you take plenty of just in case type medicines like cold and flu tablets, paracetamol, immodium etc - we didn't and I got a horrible cold, spent over $100 on a few throat lozenges, some nose spray and some cold and flu tablets, nearly fainted when they told us the price!
There are obviously loads of shops in New York, but make sure you check out Century21 down near Wall Street (there are a few locations but this is the big one) and the Century21 shoe shop around the corner. There are some amazing bargains to be had, I got a $399 French Connection winter wool coat for $60, a leather $60 Fossil purse for $8, as well as some very, very discounted designer shoes. I didn't want to go as I hate sale shopping, TK Maxx is my idea of hell, but NIM did and I'm so glad he dragged me as I got some lovely bits I'd never have afforded otherwise. We did spent over £2k in there though between a couple of visits.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -

As a man I hate shopping for clothes, but I LOVE getting a bargain. Places like Century21 and TKMaxx make me able to clothes shop, plus I'm VERY good at shopping in them (just don't tell Poolie). End of the day were on MSE for a reason, why pay highstreet prices for Manolos (sp?) when you can pay Tesco pricesThis was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
Yippee! So pleased you've got your week placement set up Tete, that's brilliant news
Another fantastic day today, roll on tomorrow, not sure what year group I'll be with, was with Reception again today, in all 3 classes, the little cherubs0 -
yay fantastic news about the placement.
Exciting about new york not being long now. £800 sounds good to me for the trip. I guess with that kind of trip you could just keep spending really but that sounds plenty.0
