Hello, still haven't heard from friend's cousin - can't believe she's just ignoring me - I mean there's a high chance I'll see her again socially at some point so you'd think she'd be a bit nicer about it. Gah.
Anyway - I got a phone call from one of my other lines of enquiry this morning before I'd actually had a chance to email her, saying that her Head is fine about it and could I email her (the Head) more details of the sorts of things I'd like to see. So I have and I've basically said I'd like to see a bit of everything but they do teach MFL so that's obviously my main interest. Fingers crossed for this one.
Didn't get an awful lot done on my list yesterday what with Granny but I did manage to finally complete my ISA transfer form, only six months later. So much decent interest I've missed out on, what a twerp.
Hoping to get some ebaying done tonight.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Glad your other contact is coming through for you, and how annoying about your friend's cousin
Well, I had a tiring but good time at the open day at Reading Uni yesterday, lots of information and a bit demoralising at times, as they can be very picky and want 2:1s or above and I have a 2:2....but the tutor said to me afterwards that I should still apply.
They really want applicants to have read and reflect on the EYFS and KS1/2 curricula and show knowledge on the application form, and show they are knowledgeable about current issues in education! No pressure to impress much in 47 lines then!!
Anyway, I came away more excited about doing the course, looking forward to the Oxford Brookes open day next month and ready to do a LOT of reading before I submit my application.
I did also book myself in for the QTS tests online yesterday, but am going to go back online and push the date back as I now want to apply after I've done my Latin course in November so I can hopefully impress people with my keenness to do other things.
DD's out playing with a chum after school, so the aim is to tidy the house as it's an utter pig sty and then get myself organised. This is a common theme in my life....0 -
Sounds like you've been making some good headway Kitty, I know what you mean about it being a bit demoralising at times
I haven't heard back from my new 'lead' yet about work exp, emailed the Head yesterday morning - really conscious that I want to do it the first or second week Oct and next week is the last one in Sept. Augh. I did have an email back from a lady I used to work with though, she's a retired super-head of a very successful primary and has just come back from her hols, which is a relief. We'd always got on well and I thought she was ignoring me! So I'll try and give her a call over the weekend at some point.
I finally had some contact from friend's cousin this morning - she text to say she'd been in meetings all week but the upshot is the school say it's fine to come in but they want me CRB checked (which isn't really mandatory as I won't be alone with the kids) first. Apparently they've said if I fill in the app form before I've been in for the experience, just to say in it that I've already done it! I wouldn't like to do that as presumably they'll check it out with the school and what if the school forgets they've said this to me, and tell them they've never heard of me ... it's not going to look very good is it?! Fingers crossed I'll be able to get a week with the most recent option in Oct, then can get a CRB done in the meantime and go there in November. Really feel like time is running out - here we are at the end of another week

Don't panic, chill out girlfriend, it's Friday and I for one, have a glass of wine in my hand
I'll hopefully find out on Monday whether I'll have a placement at the special needs school I've been helping with, they sound keen to have me, hope it'll work out time-wise before I apply!
So looking forward to going into DD's school next week, her teacher came up to chat to me this afternoon about it
You have a biiiiiiig to do list, I should as well, but haven't done very much today, went to the supermarket with a friend and spent a flipping fortune (note to self: do not go with rich friends as they throw things into the trolley as they're only a few quid....0 -

Good morning - well, not so good if it's anything like here! The wind and rain woke me up at 5.30 and I couldn't get back to sleep, all I could think of was how awful the traffic would be. So I got up, dressed and left the house at 7.15 so I'm here nice and early - gives me chancve to catch up on some 'personal admin' before anyone else arrives.
Had a crappy weekend, was just full of inertia and barely got anything done on my list (and I ate a full tube of Pringles to myself - bad) so I'm trying a new tack with my lists this week. Instead of making a huge weekly one I'm going to list a few things that definitely need doing each day and hopefully I'll have more luck with that. Sigh.
Monday:
- French homework (always was a Last Minute Lucy)
- Sort a work exp week for before half term - IMPERATIVE
- Call race people and see about transferring my race number to friend
- Update petrol record
- Look at holiday insurance for Dad
- Apply for a credit card (handy for NYC but also petrol - hoping there'll be a cashback one)
- Tidy up
- List BIN item on ebay
- Make list of things I need to do before NYC
I've a feeling there was somethign else but no idea what :undecided Ah well, it'll come to me. Hope everyone is well and not too wetWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Hi Tete, yes the weather here is also hideous, and I have discovered that my back window demister doesn't work so couldn't see a thing behind me all the way to work this morning
Hoping its just a fuse and I can sort it myself, although my car knowledge is fairly non-existant!
How is your sober September going? I have to say I haven't really found it hard at all, although I have basically stayed in! I have felt absolutely crummy for the last week or so though, and my diet has consequently gone out of the window, I was wondering if it was related somehow but now thing I may have a virus of some kindEven the thought of a to do list makes me want to weep at the moment so I commend you!

Hi Shirmpy, ugh, fingers crossed it's just a fuse - I have no idea how the demister things work!
Sober September's going well! To be honest I don't drink an awful lot anyway, and it would have been a bit harder if I'd had any social events this month! Hope you feel better soon and it doesn't turn into anything 'full-blown'!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
