Enjoy your weekend Tete. Sounds like you have lots to be doing. Hopefully the list will help motivate you.0

Morning all
Didn't get an awful lot done yesterday (I never do after a run, by the time I've had a cuppa afterwards and got home and showered half the day's gone) but I did see my Gran and she taught me how to cast on and off so I can get started knitting a blanket I have planned (like the one I saw on Ron's bed at the Harry Potter studio - I frogged a scarf I'd started but fallen out of love with, and am making a Ron inspired blanket instead) so that was productive, and I went to the supermarket for my bits for lunches etc so I don't have to leave the house today.

I actually woke up at quarter to five this morning panicking about some work related issue - isn't that awful? I'm sick to death of the place. But at least I have a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel - stuff like that only reminds me why I need to put my all into this. My stars were really weird yesterday too - something along the lines of "You're telling yourself you're putting 100% into a work project, but are you REALLY? Could you do more?" and it's true...!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Hello. I've come down with a serious case of Whatsthepoint, felt so despondent all day yesterday and got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, everything just feels like such a struggle all the time. You start to wonder how many times it's possible to bounce back from adversity. Not that anything dramatic has happened, I just feel like life is a bit of a constant battle at the moment
Hence a lot of my weekend's to-do list will roll over into this week:
DONE:- [STRIKE]Poss enrol on French course[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Call C about potential exp.[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Email K about potential exp.[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]RUN[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Visit Grandma[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Email C about acupuncture for hip[/STRIKE] - she's responded but it's not going to be possible for one reason or another.
- [STRIKE]Sponsor remaining friends for the GNR[/STRIKE] - I'd already done one so that was a nice surprise!
- Book onto open days - After a closer look they don't seem to include PG courses so have emailed to ask.
- [STRIKE]Order more wool for blanket which is eating the stuff[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Do my nails and toenails[/STRIKE] - Yes! See, got my priorities right!
- [STRIKE]Make up two batches of soup[/STRIKE] - Done, lovely lentil, chilli and chickpea and a decidedly bland sweetcorn, but it's a week's worth of lunches (had some for lunch yesterday)
- [STRIKE]Transfer stuff from cranky ext hard drive to new one I bought 9 months ago[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Watch a French film on Sunday night in preparation for la classe on Lundi![/STRIKE] - It got too late for a full film but I watched a few Audrey Tautou interviews on youtube

- Tidy away properly those little piles of 'stuff' which are the precursor to MESS - didn't do this as such but did manage to put away my clean laundry rather than leave it in a pile - yay me.
- Try and find an acupuncturist closer to home
- Schedule some blog posts
- Sew buttons on jacket, cardi and trousers
- Make a start on sorting the old family photos which have been on the dining table since April - made a very small start with this

Also had a reply from the open day enquiry I made, and they don't have a PG open day until February, which doesn't really help me if I have to have my application done by December
Argh, even writing all that down hasn't got me out of my funk(Is funk a word?). If my day job wasn't so bloody demanding I'd be fine but I'm just mentally wrecked with it. Boohoo, what a whinger. Off for another coffee and to give my head a shake

Aww Tete, big hugs.
Can you not go along to the undergrad open day just to get a feel for the campus etc? The same thing happened when I applied for my MSc, I ended up going along pretending to be a prospective undergrad but the staff were happy to talk about the post-grad stuff too. To be fair it was the only university that offered that particular course so I was going to have to apply there anyway regardless of what it was like.
And yes, funk most definitely is a word.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
I agree that funk is a word, better be as I use it all the time. I'm either 'in a funk' or something 'smells/tastes funky'!
Don't feel too down today, you did loads over the weekend so congratulate yourself for every little thing you did! :T
I think it's a good idea to go to *any* open day available just to get a feel and once you're there I'm sure someone will answer questions about PG courses.
Hope you enjoy your French class tonight and make some new amis!
You're also so close to NYC now so whenever work does your head in think about that and plan something great to do whilst you're there!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Thanks Ruby
Well I know the campus pretty well anyway TBH, it's Newcastle uni and I spent 4 years at Northumbria over the road and six living in Newc in total - from first glance the open day programme seemed to be very 18-year-old-UG-focused - tours of Halls and so on, will maybe have another look and see if it'll be worth it.
EDIT - thanks Birdie, I know I seem to have done a lot but don't feel like I;m making much progress as the answers I'm getting back aren't necessarily what I'm looking for! Ah well, gotta keep going, what else can we do?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
'Just keep swimming'
(I guess those words of wisdom will only work if you've seen Finding Nemo!)
Seriously, you're doing well, you can't make massive leaps forwards every day so try not to let it get you down when things don't seem to be moving forwards. Every day is one day closer to your quitting your awful job and starting a new rewarding career!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Aw Tete, sorry to hear about your funk (definitely a word). Your to-do list was immense and you got an awful lot done so don't be despondent! And well done on the weight loss! My diet went out the window over the weekend too (accidentally ate a strawberry meringue the size of my head) but I'm sure I have put back on the measly 3lbs I have lost so far as a result!Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0

EDIT - augh, I broke the quote HTML thing
This is actually my mantra for life in general - Finding Nemo is one of my all-time favourite filmsYou know the more I think about it the more I wonder why I didn't decide to become a primary school teacher a long time ago!
Shrimpy - meringues are just air really aren't they? I can't imagine it's done you that much harmI see you're still sober though so well done for that (sounds awful when you say it like that doesn't it?!). I hardly ever drink these days but since making the conscious decision not to, I've really fancied a glass of vino SO many times this month! I've stayed strong though.
On this note I was actually wondering about cooking with wine - was going to make some risotto this week and the secret ingredient is wine, and it's gorgeous - is that OK? I'm figuring that if pregnant women can cook with wine as the alcohol boils off, then it must be ok for Sober September?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
