Glad your week went well Tete, exciting that New York is so close too! My diet also completely went off the rails for various reasons... I decided to start afresh yesterday but somebody brought me in a piece of lemon drizzle cake because they felt sorry for me in the office on my own and thought people always forgot me! How could I say no to that! Moneysaving is actually going ok bad but we have had a slight shift in priorities, which is a long story and not one I will hijack your thread with!
Hope you manage to get the day in school on Monday that you want too. Must be so hard keeping quiet from your colleagues, I bet your mind is in overdrive thinking about the week you've just had.Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0 -

I guess that's why it's so important to get as much work experience as possible in different settings.
Anyway... *slips seamlessly back into conversation despite short - 2month?! - absence*
...how's things?!
Tete, I can't tell you how impressed I am with how much progress you've made towards your change in direction. I realise it's been frustrating and seemed slow-moving to you, but actually you've achieved a huge amount in a relatively short time. So glad you enjoyed your school time
I think on the whole I'd prefer a slighter old age group too. Partly because one of my friends who teaches littlies said they STINK! Just because they don't know you can't just fart all the time :rotfl:
Hurrah for NYC too! Can't believe it's so close - your itinerary sounds excellent. Brooklyn's my fave part, though totally understand it's a long way out if you're only there a short time, BUT you'll get those brilliant views of Manhattan across the bridge. (Big camera time, definitely.) And I would recommend going up Top of the Rock rather than Empire State as you'll get better photographs.
big HELLO to everyone else (and smooches to Birdie for noting my disappearance), I'll swing by Dinah's thread to catch up there too.
I've been super busy in my new job, which is going really well, but it's taken me a while to get into the swing of having a social life, taking packed lunches and fitting in some exercise around working full-time. I still haven't quite mastered it - I had a personal training session at 7.30 this morningI thought I'd feel amazing, but turns out I'm just a bit sleepy and hungry...
hope everyone else is well xxLBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Poddle!! :j Hello, lovely to see you, you've been missed! How is life as Mrs Poddle? Really glad you're enjoying the job, is it still publishing? Still London? When is the next training sesh??
Yes well I think you're exactly right - I might find that I do indeed enjoy teaching tiny kids after spending more time doing it and no you don't always get to choose as Wendz said, I was just thinking out loud really.
I didn't notice the farts ha! But the classrooms did seems a lot muggier and sweatier than I remember them being - maybe when I was little I was beneath the fug - heat rises doesn't it?!
Eep, I'm starting to get nervous about NY - it's so close! We're going up both TOTR and the ESB but we're going to do one in daylight and one in the dark. I have bought myself a spare large memory card
Just worked out that I *think* I'll be able to take some baby nail-clippers on board the flight to cut my wool so I'll be able to mile-high crochetThat has made me ridiculously cheery hehe!

What a fantastically smart idea! :T
Welcome back Poddle! Seriously, I do not like my ladies disappearing, I worry about you! I know it's because you're off having a life... but God, think about little old me worrying about your virtual presence!!!Glad to hear you're doing well though.
Urgh snot, stink, sweaty mugginess... I'm definitely not cut out to teach little-uns! I couldn't even bend over to their teeny tiny desks without my back giving out anyway! :rotfl:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Yes! I forgot to mention that! The desks are so tiny and as you know I am the fifty-foot woman - I really noticed the strain on my back! I'd be crippled after a term of that!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Ah yes the tiny desks and chairs..........The class I'm in this week is fabulous, they have about 4 office type chairs so me, the teacher and the TA can choose to whiz around on them or go on the children's chairs (I tend to choose the former, far more fun!)
Had such a great day today. Was paid a massive compliment by the class teacher that made me feel great all day, and enjoyed cake baking, reading with a group, playing phoneme bingo, and reptile and amphibian venn and some other type of maths.
We also went for a walk in the school field to look for snakes' favourite types of habitat and they took a gazillion photos of logs and leaves
Last night I went out to Guiding training and chatted to a Brownies leader who turned out to be the job share partner of a teacher friend of mine, and my friend has said she'd love me to come in, and this woman seemed rather keen too, so looks like I'll have a Year 3 class to have fun with soonish. I really hope that putting all this prospective experience down on my GTTR form will help, but I'm having such a great time meeting lots of teachers and children, that doing my application feels like its light years away!0 -
Fabulous Kitty - this week's school sounds fab with a great range of activities! I know what you mean about the application seeming very far off, you get very caught up in the present when you're in a school.
I have managed to get in touch with the Bursar at School P so will be off there on Monday for the day - wish it wasn't half term the week after as I could have got another two days in then too. Oh well. Excited to see how this one compares to School A. Not sure what year I'll be in, fingers crossed for 4 or 5 as I haven't seen those yet.
I've been in the office alone today which is ace as I've been able to do some printing etc but colleague rang and asked if I'd like to go out for dinner at the old office as it's another colleague's last day so I'll be working from there this aft. Had a real tussle with myself as I'm meant to be saving money and losing weight but I really like this lady so I'm going!
I was sure I had more to say than that, never mind it was probably just waffle anyway!
ETA - That was it! Had an email from Slice The Pie this morning inviting me to the catwalk thingySo thank you very much Dinah for advising me to sign up - rating clothes is much more suited to my work environment than rating songs!

Yay, the teacher I've been with this week (I'll meet her job share partner tomorrow), just offered out to be my referee for my GTTR form
Flipadoodle! Just went on to the GTTR site and it's offline with technical issuesI thought I could start doing the easy questions but no, it's not going to be up until "after the weekend at the very earliest". Good job I moved my QTS test date to November from October....

Brill about the referee Kitty - gosh if I'm honest I've been so preoccupied with getting some classroom time I haven't even thought about the application form. That doesn't surprise me about the online form though, I work with a govt website and it's ALWAYS down, especially around application deadline times so it's a good idea not to leave it til the last day!
Am really tense today and panicked about everything I need to do before I finish work tomorrow and before I go away on Wednesday. If only my job had more of a normal workload I might be able to concentrate better on my actual lifeI think a list-making sesh is in order...
Been for acupuncture this morning so consequently feeling a bit odd - all my joints ache afterwards and I feel really tired and discombobulated. Going to try runing wothout painkillers on Saturday for the first time in about two months so fingers crossed.
Diet went right out the window yesterday with a creamy pasta meal out, two lots of cake and a chip buttie for teaBack onto it today...

Well hello from NYC! We've had an amazing time thus far but tonight's flight has been cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy, at the moment we're booked onto the next available flight on Sunday (!) We've managed to keep our hotel room at a reasonable rate and are just in the hotel now stocked up on food and waiting for it to hit. At the moment it's just drizzling a bit!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
