Anyone for a 10am HHC if I can get George off my knee?

MrsChaos glad your cat is ok.

MrsChaos, I'm glad your cat is ok too. I'm such a cat lover and hate the thought of any animal being hurt.

Hex, is George a cat? (Apologises profusely to LO just in case he's your DS!). But - if he is a cat George sounds like a ginger one (my favourite, but don't tell my black and white one!!).
  • Oh dear, late for my HHC. Off I go!
  • Good morning :D

This morning I have got up (that's an achievement in itself!), showered, then scrubbed the shower, S&S the sink, put on WM, had breakfast & taken DD1 to the station.
I need to keep up the momentum now.

DH definitely has the BD and I can't help but be affected by it :(. Getting the house in better shape will help so I'm determined to do well today.

Snap :( Last year, when we got back from our holiday DH suffered & I had never seen him like that before. He hasn't been right since we got back on Saturday, and it is more than just post holiday blues or jet lag. He announced this morning that he had made an appointment at the docs, so at least he is being proactive. He is normally the one with the GUAG in this house! He does jobs because he sees them (I know that is a rarity! :)), but he has only done things if I ask him since we got back, and has slept a lot (during the day, not at night :(). Hopefully he will get it under control quickly :(

Ok - I need to get on :)

Anyone fancy a HHC at 11.30 to get me started?

Well that's my HHC done - and although I can't knock anything off my lists yet I can see an improvement! Various clutter removed from kitchen surfaces, dining table, living room floor - and of course 99% of it was NOT MINE! Why am I the only person in this house who sees the mess?!

ionafan and rowan, hope your HHCs are/were productive. We're off school uniform shopping now - which bound to be an unpleasant experience with the mood my 3 are in today! They'll be even more unhappy when they realise that this afternoon is being dedicated to homework and housework
  • 3rd load of washing in the machine - cricket kit for 1 plus a couple of umpires coats....... when did I become the teamm kitwoman? This is in addition to baking lots of Flapjack/ginger biscuits for the teas (organised by the cricket club at the local show yesterday!) as this is a major source of fundraising ( and a major setback to my progress diet-wise!:()

Am off out later to my book group - DD2 is away to see the BF, so I'll grab a heat and eat shepherds pie for tea ( DD2doesn't like it!) to make life easy....

Well done, Mrs_Bee. Hope your shopping trip is successful.

Take it easy, Rowan tree - you have a good reason not to overstretch yourself today.

    In my HHC I

    - carried the stepladder downstairs and put it away in the garage
    - finished hoovering and dusting upstairs
    - hoovered downstairs (except the study, which I'll do on Thursday when I've decluttered a bit more stuff)
    - cleaned out the fridge
    - wiped hob, microwave and oven
    - washed the kitchen floor
    - S&S'd downstairs WC
    - handwashed 2 tops (drip dry, non-iron and the only things I ever handwash apart from DH's cashmere pullover which was a bargain from MrT last year)
    - hung out another load of washing and started yet another. Still 2 more to do - where does it all come from? Grey clouds are passing us by, thank goodness.

That's most of today's list completed, plus almost all of Monday's and Wednesday's. I think I've earned another cup of coffee!

    Still to do today:

    - more washing and hanging out
    - HHI this evening
    - sort out knitting for train journey tomorrow
    - wrap birthday present for DD, personalised crayons for DGS1 who is starting school next week and a Mr Men book for DGS2 who is starting at a new nursery (at the same school as DGS1)
    - recharge netbook
    - prepare evening meal early (we've got to go out to a training session from 5.45 to about 8.15 pm, and I shall be starving if we have to wait until afterwards for our main meal)
    - sit at computer and engage brain so that I get the new website drafted out
    - wait in for a book delivery: I can read on the train even if I can't knit because I don't get a seat
    - make 3 long-overdue phonecalls

Lamewolf, you are very quiet. Is everything OK?

So are you, pigpen, but I imagine you are making the most of having fewer children in the house until lunchtime to get on with the lists!

Hope you are having a good holiday with no need to fly, Dustykitten - why are you reading this when you should be enjoying yourself????!!!

(((Hugs))) to Bossymoo and everyone else who needs one, and sticks for all BDs (including the one that's come back to plague my DH today after a relatively good weekend).

Jaybee, I have one of the dryers, but mine is only a single tier, like an ironing board. It's good for things that need finishing off drying or airing, but I would think the three tier version is much better.

Thanks Rowan Tree. I know the one you mean. I am so fed up with this summer trying to get things dry indoors most of the time. Anyway, thanks to flypeeps recommendations, I have gone ahead and ordered the three tier one.

Have swept hard floors and hoovered carpets.
    Cleaned bathroom.
Been to the bank and decluttered some stuff at the charity shop.
Listed a few things on ebay. Now waiting for the camera battery to charge before I can do any more!
  • Hi Ionafan and Mrs Bee. In my (sluggish) HH I S&S both kitchen and bathroom, dusted the lounge, damp dusted the conservatory and tidied up various bits that were lying around, also tidied the main bedroom. So although I took it steady I did manage to do surface cleaning and tidying, so it looks straighter.

OH is continuing with his work in the loft so has done quite a lot up there now. We didn't have pancakes, but have just had egg on toast, and off I go to work shortly. Music this afternoon, and I have a helper, so that should mean a fun afternoon and a bit easier for me.

Warm wishes to all those under par and here are some big sticks to chase away any BDs. X

Rowan Tree George is a big black evil monster of a cat. I do have two gingers as well, and another black one.

Just finished the drawers and our wardrobe. Three black bags gone.

Taking the boys to the park then starting again shortly.

    Afternoon everyone!

Well after a longer than expected bike ride, I have:

    • Fed kiddywinks and myself
    • Emptied DW (again)
    • Bought in all washing that was dry on the line
Now I need to start on the lists as the bits I have done so far have done nothing to help make the house look any cleaner :(
Snap :( Last year, when we got back from our holiday DH suffered & I had never seen him like that before. He hasn't been right since we got back on Saturday, and it is more than just post holiday blues or jet lag.

I'm so pleased that you posted this. My DH is exactly the same. Just as we came back from holiday. Fundamentally, my DH has a problem that he has to work. I'm embarrassed to say it but it has dogged us for years now. He has started taking his pills again so I hope that does some good. None of our family have any sympathy for it (and I have to say, I struggle) because most people have to work, it's not like he is in the minority. I'm hoping it gets better when the boys go back to school and I go back to work as he feels like I am "on holiday"! He wants to spend a few days here I tell you :rotfl:

Anyway, I procrastinate. I'm off to do a HHC working on the list from Monday.

    See you soon!
