  • Yes, as Lynsey says, each store is different. In fact some of the reductions quoted on here for Sainsbury's are NEVER so low in my local store, so they obviously vary from town to town too. Probably depends on each store's manager.

Some of my better bargains have been from the Co-op (sadly I have to travel further for that!) They seem to reduce mid morning and anything left is then reduced again mid afternoon, so that is when I tend to pop in every now and then.

My local Asda too reduce in a morning and anything left gets reduced again early evening (along with bread/cakes etc with that day's date)

No Tesco here and don't shop at Morrisons.

As said, my Sainsbury's can reduce any time through the day but never drop the price down any further as the day goes on.

    Good luck!

How on earth do you get all these bargains?! I wanna join in!!! Do you just look in the bargain bin sections that they have, or is there some other secret I don't know about?
And are there particular times that are best to go? Or is it a case of getting to know your own store and their times for reducing?

When I visit a new supermarket I ask a staff member near the reductions when they will be marking down again and what time the finals are done. Most of the time they are more than helpful. Then I know when to go. I also check dates in the fruit and veg and eggs and meat sections to see if stock levels are high with short dates knowing the chances of reductions will be high and timing my shopping trip accordingly.

My bargain of the week at Waitrose. Pack of two sweetcorn cobs £1.99 on BOGOF, reduced to 25p a pack, so I paid 50p and got £1.99 back! :j:j
