Lets get rid of that service so it doesn't cause problems. Read this carefully & let me know if you envisage any problems.

    • Open Notepad
    • Copy and Paste everything from the Code box into Notepad (Do Not include Code:)
      @echo off
      sc stop "McAfee SiteAdvisor Service"
sc config "McAfee SiteAdvisor Service" start= disabled
      sc delete "McAfee SiteAdvisor Service"
sc query "McAfee SiteAdvisor Service" >"%userprofile%\desktop\svc_look.txt" 2>&1
      Notepad.exe "%userprofile%\desktop\svc_look.txt"
      Del %0

    • Make sure there are NO blank lines before @echo off
    • Make sure there IS one blank line at the end of the file.
    • Go to File > Save As
    • Save File name as Fix.bat
    • Change Save as Type to All Files and save the file to your desktop.
    • Close Notepad
    • Right-click Fix.bat on your Desktop and choose "Run as Administrator"
    • Notepad will open. Post the contents in your next reply.
    • It can also be found on your desktop, named svc_look.txt

with regards to the installed programs, are you using discs created by you or did they come with the computer. There are a lot of games and stuff that I would not expect to see on a fresh install

Waddler, i followed your instructions up to save to desktop-but there is no look.bat on the desktop-there is a new icon with a cog as a pic and "fix" under it, nothing else

Good. You can delete that now.

    Manually install these.

It looks as though they have installed then. It wouldn't hurt to choose the Repair option.
