Aaargh sorry but why does this keep happening?????

Undoing the restore point will do as you think - it will put the system back as it was earlier today.

I'm at a loss with where to go next, as everything I can find relating to that error code suggests a problem with Windows/Microsoft Update.

Hopefully someone else will have a solution or other ideas

well i cheated, i got so exasperated with it I uninstalled the fooz kids, the platform was still showing so i deleted it off the list in ccleaner, so its still there probably but at least i can't see it

I will re download remo later because it did pick up a couple of nero remnants earlier-must ask first though, you know when remo shows the files where the remnants are, is it safe to just delete them or will i potentially be deleting system files? would it be best to just leave well alone since everything seems to be running ok now?

its turning into a full time job maintaining the computer and i've wasted too much of all your time with this, sorry!

That may have done the trick, but it's just possible you may have issues the next time you come to add or remove a program or do a Windows Update - only time will tell.

Although to be fair about 30 posts ago I did suggest buying a typewriter might be a more manageable option for me!
