I couldnt agree more and I have absolutely no issue giving my non-driver friend lifts.... but anyone who proclaims the following about cars; "....a tin can of death that pollutes the atmosphere and guzzles your money." ... and then expects or accepts a lift (which they do!), is a hypocrite . That is all I am saying

Which part of tin can of death that pollutes the atmosphere and guzzles your money is actually incorrect?
Cars can kill babies waiting to cross the street with their parents. They dump a whole load of nasty gasses into the atmosphere that aren't supposed to be there. All you see on the news is motorists complaining about the rising cost of petrol and insurance. They are all legitimate reasons for not wanting a car. Thus it gets extremely annoying when those same people who complain about the cost treat you like you're lazy, stupid and selfish for preferring to take the bus.
I got my own car when I was 22 after enduring 5 years of my family treating me like a stupid idiot for not wanting a car when I could barely afford the bus.'til the end of the line0 -
My OH couldnt drive when I met him.
It was so restricting because public transport does not run everywhere and at all times unless you live in Central London with the tube. And even that isnt 24/7. He never asked for lifts, and walks everywhere but there are some places that are not accessible without a car.
It made me wonder what would happen if we ever wanted to move somewhere where he couldnt walk to his job, or near to a public transport route that went to it.
It would have meant he couldnt do the weekly shop without me, get something for me if I was ill, drive us around on holidays, drive us home from somewhere if for some reason I couldn't, the list goes on.
And yes if I was pg I would be scared if he couldnt drive me somewhere, and then after having a baby not being able to get around easily if I wasnt able to do it.
Anyway, one day out of the blue he started lessons and passed his test first time. I still drive us pretty much everywhere, which I dont mind, BUT if the need arises, he can drive. So i dont need to panic when were out that if I get a bad headache/really tired/go into labour lol that Im trapped driving or relying on other people/public transport that might not exist!
So tell your boyfriend to get the train! And that will probably be the cost of a few driving lessons in itself its so expensive!0 -

Erm, where on earth have I suggested it wasn't correct!?
I just said that people who verbalise such things against the use of cars, are often very happy to accept the use when it suits them, that's all.
I don't think anyone that gets on a bus is lazy or stupid. Just don't criticise the fact people drive cars & then call shotgun in mine when it's pouring with rain and you don't want to walk to the bus stop!0 -

Your reasons not to drive for several hours are perfectly legitimate. I wouldn't want to drive for 4 hours solid, straight after an accident. However, I agree with the other posters - it's got nothing to do with whether he passes his driving test or not. I voted for the option that most closely resembles my opinion. It's not mean for you to refuse to drive him to the football match. He is the mean one for disregarding your health.0
