The number of apps is poor and the prices are ridiculous!! I seriously would not recommend, I have the iPad and although that has its issues the PB really is something to avoid!!
This is exactly what the guy in currys said when we went to collect ours, but firstly we couldn't afford an ipad and even if we could its not what we wanted. Have now got all our photos and home videos loaded and with the micro hd cable £9.64 (genuine bb, there is cheaper but we went for this http://www.amazon.co.uk/RIM-ACC-40486-201-Blackberry-Micro-Cable/dp/B005IMGBVW/ref=pd_sim_ce_55 )
we can view it all on a 40 inch tv. It's brilliant :j Have also got a case only £4.94 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deluxe-Black-Leather-BlackBerry-Playbook/dp/B005SC6X06/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349843408&sr=8-1
Can't praise it enough for the money and even my brother who's a huge apple fan and stuck with apple for the last 20 yrs or so with desktops, laptops and now the ipad is really impressed. If we had the money we'd have one each as OH uses it the most. It's more relaxing to sit back and browse compared to using the laptop. yet to download any apps as it already has enough to keep us occupied. So anyone still thinking about it don't be put off by ipad fanatics ! hth someone0 -
Morning,
I got one of these for my birthday a few weeks ago and can honeistly say i'm delighted. I can't pass opinions on it from a knowledgeable point of view, but for a tablet novice, who wishes to use it for browsing, storing pics of my family etc its perfect. Apart from a few apps which i'd like.
I've tried to download a couple of apps from the ereader site, but they didn't work for me.
If anyone has any idea why this might be i'd appreciate some help. I've updated to 2.1, might this be the problem?
Anyway thanks to everyone on this thread,i've got the best birthday present in years!!

With a little research before buying you would have realised that the Playbook doesn't have anywhere near as many apps as Android or Apple. What is does have is 64gb storage space, great screen, good sound, good build, good browsing, HDMI out (and more) which makes it a great media player and browser. You should buy the product that meets your needs. There a plenty of people out there in the world who are not App mad.0

78% off BLACKBERRY PlayBook Tablet PC - 64 GB
at Pixmania £122 (was £559) + Delivery £6.40 though. It is now the same price as the 16GB PlayBook version.
I don't have a clue if these particular tablets are good but I imagine this is a good deal. If someone can post a link that would be great.0 -
Its also a current deal, for quite a while now, on Currys -

Just bought one. Here IMHO are the 'pluses(+) and minuses (-)' compared to IPAD:
+ Price per GB
+ Size - 7inch tablet more transportable
+ BB OS can do multi tasking
+ Screen seems better
+ Like the navigation
+ sync with PC easier (hate itunes)
+ Docs to go does MS word and excel
+ Potential to support android
- More limited app store
- App loading more protracted
- Future proof? Will BB PB survive?
- Doesn't do skype
Overall - for the price it's a good buy. I bought it to replace IPOD Touch (bigger screen so can see better). Had no problems setting up or connecting to WIFI.
That's my opinion.0 -
You'd be better off buying one of these rather than a playbook.

Bargain for the spec imo.Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0 -

Not compared to the playbook it isnt. The Playbook has 64GB of storage.
Paid £119 for mine: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/blackberry-playbook-tablet-pc-64-gb-for-119-32gb-108-97-16gb-98-97-using-10-off-13397850 -
Playbook will get the Blackberry 10 OS upgrade early 2013 & thus more function and apps, the 2.1 OS update was just to add mainly calander & email for non BB handset users, all future BB devices will be backwards compatible to BB10 for the next few years, frankly the £30 Dixons KNOW HOW (in "trust" seperate from Dixons Group PLC) instant replacement for 3 years is a bargain - as many replacements as needed in that 3 years, accidental or not !!!!

http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/rim-confirms-bb10-is-coming-to-blackberry-playbook-1071018SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

Fraction of the storage. No bluetooth (have tethered my Playbook) and OS 10 looks promising. Cannot see how 'You'd be better off buying one of these' stacks up unless you factor in that its cheaper - but that does not necessarily mean better value.0
