I'm in again. Don't ask me about March, lets just pretend I didn't join then :embarrased:. I lost track of how much I spent around the 16th...

    So, £200 again for April.
    Spent so far: £33.82

Another lurker here, I'm going to give it a real go in April.

I've got it down to £120 a month which covers food and household stuff for me and two cats. I did start putting cash aside weekly but found that if I stocked up on offers the rest of the week was a bit bleak, so this month I think I'll put the full amount in my 'food' purse ( I have a 'fun' purse too which helps).

I'm trying to meal plan to help me stick to it and I'm lucky in that between home and work I have Asda, Sainers,Tesco, Morrissons, Lidl.. so I'll be hitting the Off Your Trolley pages like the Supermarket Tart that I am! No excuses except my own laziness.

    Good luck to us all!

  • Hi all,

I too am another lurker!! I thought about entering last month but decided against it as money was not flowing in the way I would have liked (I am a student and have been begging and borrowing for the past month). I am however, in a position this month to budget!! :T

Ok, so here goes. I have settled on a figure of £300 for me, boyf and 2 yr old DS. We also have 2 cats. With this I hope to be able to buy all the food, nappies, cleaning stuff etc. for the month - I will be starting tomorrow...

    Thanks,

    Sarah x

    HI There,

I too would like to join the April Grocery Challenge. My month will start from April 1st - April 30th.
This will be for me and DH, & 2 kids aged 10 & 2. Dh will be the nightmare for me, he loves his food, and if the cupboard is bare, he will expect it to get filled rather than wait for the month to end:mad:

My budget is £250 for the 4 of us, but hopefully, will be alot less. This has to include food, cleaning products, toiletries, and any take aways we might have. Petrol is paid from DH 's business account.

  • Hello Everyone :hello:

I too have been lurking for the last couple of months and I am now up for the challenge. Last month I kept all my receipts and I spent £295.00 for me and DS

I've been really shocked by my spending and keeping the receipts has been a real eye opener. I'm really determined to get this down as it is a big part of my budget each month.

This month I 'm setting a target of £180.00 (it's a 4 week month for me) and this will include toilteries and cleaning products. I'm hoping that this is achievable and will keep you posted on my progress.

    Good Luck everybody!!

I'm in again. I'm not absolutely certain exactly how much I spent last month but it was certainly about the £200 mark which was my target.

I'm going for £200 again this month for 4 adults. I've just spent about £70 on shopping this morning but that is meat and storecupboard stuff for 2 weeks. Just need fruit.

LMS that does seem a huge drop from what you spent last month, good luck!

Well I have just added all the receipts off yesterday and the dog food order etc and added it to my total. Somehow I spent £90 already! I fell into the trap of handing my card over visiting several shops for different things and didn't keep track of it. Now I feel rather stupid and frustrated with myself.

Right, rest is in cash in my purse, cash/payment cards hidden in my drawer for emergencies only. I've pinched an idea from here and I am doing a food purse (found a spare one this morning) so it's all seperate. I have enough dog food now for the month, they also have a box full of treats (think this was another big expense yesterday as bought them allsorts, must stop being so soft spoiling them) Going to do a cupboard, fridge and freezer list and work meal plans out for as long as possible see how long I can make what we have in last! Fresh fruit, veg, milk etc not included of course as these will be bought weekly.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
