    May Grocery challenge £150 136/150
  • Hi everyone!
I'm new to this and this is my first challenge so I'm looking forward to it. I've been keeping a check on how much I spend on groceries every month and quite honestly I'm really stunned at how much money I squander in Tesco and Asda and the like  However, thanks to you I've seen the error of my ways and I'm in for the first time!

I'm going to aim for £250 for four of us and a dog. I'll start on Saturday as that's my main shopping day. I've already stocked up on vinegar, lemon juice and all the other bits and bobs for cleaning, so I'm all geared for a thrifty month :rotfl: .

Looking forward to the challenge. Good luck everyone!

  • I will be in it again this month. I did so well in January but went a bit off track in Feb. Not tallied all my receipts for March yet but Im fairly happy that it was well within the normal/low range. I will set a target of £60 per week for April for 5 of us(youngest is 13) and a GS dog and a cat.Well stocked cupboards-3/4 full freezer which I want to run down. Locts of storecupboard items to bulk cook meals for the freezer realy cheaply. Stock up on lentils, chickpeas, kidneybeans, soya pearl barley, soup mix and stock cubes! You san do a lot of cheap meals for about 50p per serving with those.

  • Hi everyone

Would love to join the April challenge, got paid today so I am going to try for £ 10.00 a week, I have loads of food to use up so should not have to many problems with this. Really did well in January but sort of lost the plot in February and March. Am looking forward to starting again and keeping to it this time.

Thanx and good luck to everyone.

    Hi All
for April I'm planning to spend $200... that's about 80 pounds.

Well, actually, I'd like to spend less than that for the normal groceries if I can, and then at the end of a month have a bit of a seafood blowout! So we'll see how that goes.

Should be easier than anticipated really, I only did the last shop of march yesterday so we have plenty there to see us through for at least a week.

That's for 2 of us, food and household stuff... and the OH who has a fetish for expensive cheese and juices!!

  • I'm in again. This month's budget is £85.80. We've not done too badly the last couple of months and have managed to come in a few £s under budget.

  • I think £40 should do me for the month. All I really need to buy is fruit and veg as I have a huge amount of pasta, rice, couscous and quinoa aswell as many jars of sauces (many of which my ma insisted on getting me) hehe. So I have enough to make many meals when I think about it. Can't see any reason I shouldn't manage it except maybe the over indulgence of a nice drink lol.
    Month = 30th March - 30th April
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
  • First time for me too - going for £200.00 for Me, DH and 2 dogs.

Already spent £67.50 at Mr T's, but that's it for the month. I'm trying one delivery (easier to stick to list online) per month for store cupboard stuff and loo rolls etc.

I have plenty of vinegar, bicarb. and soapnuts in stock for cleaning and washing, and waiting for a Pigsback Boots voucher to cover toothpaste etc.

I usually spend approx £25.00 per week with Riverford for my veggies/fruit and milk (make yogurt from milk). Won't help this month but planted lots of seeds to (hopefully) grow our own veg. to replace (in an ideal world) or at least supplement Riverford over the summer.

Like many others I was horrified at how much we used to spend (at least £400/£500 per month  ) each month - I'm now wondering what on earth we used to spend it on!

Good luck and best wishes to everyone.
