Found cat - what on earth to do...

We also have an older grumpy Tom cat who can be loving when he feels like it. He has serious atitude problems but is fun to watch.
When the female went into season the first time (a week before she was booked in for the Op-typical) as he is also "done" her behaviour confused him and he spent 2 evenings chasing off many would be suitors rofl-he is a big lad but spend most of the next day cuddling up on peoples knees he was really put out. There were cats I had never seen before who must have come miles. I was suprised how many "whole" males were about so to speak.
Apparently they do travel miles, many young males get lost chasing a bit of skirt.I'm surprised how many toms are not neutered, you'd think their spraying would persuade the owner if not the risk of STDs.

Well, years ago I was cycling to work & heard a pitiful "Meow" from up a tree, stopped & the was this little tabby kitten, not much more than a few weeks old by the size of her,she was covered in mud & blood from scratches & custs & couldn't get down,so I scooped her up & took her to work (We were about 1/4 mile away from any houses, just fields)
Got her to the vet & a couple days later, one of the girls I worked with saw a wanted poster in a garage over a mile from where I found her,so she was re-united with her owner a day later.0 -

She might have got stuck in the back of a delivery lorry or something and travelled miles...
Aww 'tis such a shame that someone might be missing her (and vice versa). So sad.
She does look very at home... I love her little white feet
Good luck, and please keep us updated!

Still no joy, had a very close call on Twitter, local guy thought it looked like neighbours cat and asked if she had a clumsy walk.
He went home to check with the neighbours, and there was their cat in the front garden.
We're both a little bit besotted with her but it just is a really bad time for us to take on a cat, but the thought of her in a shelter breaks my heart too, OH feels the same way. I don't feel right just 'keeping' her, she might look very comfortable but she looks very sad to me.
I'm also very worried she might be pregnant too. I don't have much of a clue about cats as it is and i have zero clue on how to deal with kittens being born and trying to find decent homes for them... they're certainly better off not being born as sad and cruel as it sounds.
She's too sweet to be a stray, she's clearly used to lots of attention. Feels horrible leaving her all day, luckily our downstairs neighbour is popping up when she can to spend time with her. poor thing cries all through the night, as we shut her out of the bedroom - it's very hot in there and the windows open upwards from the bottom - i'd be worried she's get out and clumsy as she is she would fall (we're on the 1st floor) and she's so dinky she'd squeeze through the smallest gaps.
Her owners may even be on holidays, she has a habit of really hiding herself so maybe whoever's supposed to be popping round to look after her/food and water her just thinks she's hiding and hasn't eaten much.
Put more posters up last night, no doubt more tonight and tomorrow. I feel exhausted! Doesn't help she's got diarrhea, she's litter trained but i'm cleaning out her box every 5 mins it's that bad - no doubt she's eating different food to what she is used to, we were giving her the neighbours cat's Science Plan (dry) stuff, but she's had the trots ever since so i picked up some Go Cat (dry food again - she seems used to dry food). The Science Plan is apparently quite rich/calorie heavy as it's the Urinary health one, so hopefully putting her on something a bit more commonly fed will help.
Finger's crossed again today. Thanks all for the kind words and advice0 -
Put some Found posters up near the local schools too, school kids like animals, are out on foot a lot and usually know all the local cats. Plus they might have seen a Lost poster up for her too. When one of my cats went missing a few years back it was some local lads that found her. You'd have crossed the street to avoid this particular band of tattooed and foul mouthed 15 year olds but they were soft as butter over my stray cat, lol.
I just adopted a young black and white kitten from our local rescue btw. Twelve weeks old and a total nutter, he's terrorised our two older cats. He loooks very much like your stray, little bit more white that's all.Val.0 -

Good idea! There's a few schools round here, mainly primary but i'll have a proper explore...we've only just moved to the area so not hugely familiar.
I'm considering getting her spayed regardless of her owner coming forward - if she's already in the early stages of pregnancy then it will defo have to be done. Just hope her owners aren't angry about that - should already have been done in my mind! Bit of a moral dilemma really0 -

Diarrhoea could well be the change of food, but could need to see the vet again. What an awkward thing when you are due to go away.Might be part of why she is so hungry?
There is a good chance she is not pregnant, it doesn't sound like she is in the best condition to deal with kittens anyway. A rescue can be found to support you if she is and cannot be spayed, Purrsinourhearts is full of knowledgeable, helpful rescuers who will understand your situation. I wouldn't have wanted to re-home kittens in my city either, I'd definitely have needed a rescue on board.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Have signed up to Purrs - just waiting on approval
We've spoken to a local rescue - they're full and can't take her in however they said they can spay her on a voucher if necessary.
Everything always happens at just the wrong time doesn't it. OH is considering the fact that we may have to keep her as all the local no kills are full, it just makes me sad that this is not her home really, and that their could be someone out there who maybe hasn't seen our posters/gumtree ads and everything else we've done on and offline to re-unite her with her owners. i'm going to be worried sick all holiday about her - sounds selfish but we haven't been away for years and this was our long awaited trip of a life time and no doubt i will spend my time worrying about this poor little thing.
I feel utterly useless!0 -
Maybe you have to start wondering whether someone has dumped her somewhere far from home on purpose... it happens unfortunately.
My Jerry Cat was left behind when his owner naffed off somewhere. And Lottie Cat was dumped at the vets with her 2 kittens. Both were (and still are!) extremely timid, but very loving.
