Firstly, I am not condoning what he did, but I do think that the OP should have mentioned it ASAP.
Do you honestly think that attempting to explain to a person with serious mental issues would have any effect?
Having a serious mental problem, means that they cannot relate to anything which we take for granted, speech, logic, right and wrong - savvy?0 -

How do you know how serious it was? How do you know what they can and can't relate to?

Unfortunately some are unable to.
Some require continuous help with boundaries, some can learn and some can never. My mum worked with a man who masturbated constantly. It took years but eventually they got him to confine this to his bedroom.
