No you didn't, you pontificated about doing the job properly, as though you never miss anything with your poorly-paid eagle eyes.

    Are you for real?

You said the carer may not have known he'd behave that way and I agreed but said they should have spotted it when it did happen.

You also asked me if I would have people with disabilities locked up and then tried to say it was someone else who suggested that.

You quoted me and asked the question and I answered.

The carer was doing a bad job - anyone can see that!

What (who?) is a "window licker"?

Small children. Usually when travelling in a people carrier type vehicle.

For the last few pages we've been talking about exactly that. I COULD choose another word, but I refuse to be subject to other peoples' emotions, and no matter what the "in" term is now, in a few years they'll decide that's offensive too!

These words are offensive because they were coined as DEROGATORY terms. They HURT.

But hey, why should you change your ways? As long as YOU'RE happy, eh?

    Ugh, you sicken me

I'm unsure why you seem to think I find this amusing. I don't, for the record. I find the whole thing deeply disturbing and am extremely worried about what this attitude implies for the future of censorship.

Rubbish, you're clearly thoroughly enjoying stirring things up. Just like a sniggering schoolboy.

I hate to point out the obvious but if it is a debate that is close to your heart, maybe you should start a thread of its own?

Oh dear. I'm amazed that this thread has turned into a battlefield.

The disabled man had every right to be at the doctor's - his carer wasn't doing his job adequately. Putting his hand on my leg once was bad enough - twice was unacceptable.

If my husband had been with me he'd have reacted very badly so I'm glad he wasn't.

I do feel ashamed though for shouting at the man (who smiled at me throughout), but I was just so astonished that he'd touch me up in a crowded doctor's waiting room!

Words that were commonly used in the past have become offensive today - my old nan used to have a black dog called the N word! - and when I started school many years ago, my mother got a letter saying the uniform had to be N***** brown!

And of course the words to describe those who are mentally disabled bear no resemblance to those used decades ago!

    The world has changed!
