I too had assumed that a "Sorry we missed you, parcel is with No. x" type note would be left, but my OH accepted a parcel for next door and asked whether a note was going to be put through their door to which the postman just responded no and walked off.
We're new to the area, so I'm hoping our neighbours are nice and don't take a fancy to any of our parcels! You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0 -

They should be
All DOs should have the new P739 cards which include a section for left with neighbour_________________0 -
During the trials of the scheme there were issues with the quality of the opt-out stickers. Because of those issues, Royal Mail is not currently issuing any stickers! In other words, there is no way of opting out!
Clearly, they knew of those issues when Ofcom gave approval for the scheme on 27 September. So why were they allowed to launch just 4 days later on 1st October? Even if Royal Mail were sending out stickers there was insufficient time to obtain them before the launch date.
Consumer Focus (a government body) did research and 54% of people said they did not want a scheme that meant mail could be delivered to neighbours.
Consumer Focus also determined that even in areas where trials were running only 1 in 3 knew of the trial scheme. And of those 1 in 3 only half knew they could opt out!
And what was Consumer Focus' conclusion from their research? Well, they fully support the scheme!
I can now tell you that at no stage, did Ofcom or Royal Mail make any contact with the ICO over possible Data Protection issues of this scheme and Consumer Focus completely failed to consider any Data protections issues in their report.0 -
I got the note through the door about the scheme at the end of August and an opt-out sticker on the 30th.
Clearly they were going ahead despite official approval pending.0 -

The slash and burn of Royal Mail0 -
My deliver to neighbour sticker hasn't been delivered so I just printed off the one from this thread and stuck it on my front door.
Its not that I don't trust my neighbours, they have taken things in for me before. Its more that I hardly know them and I do order quite a few bits from the web. The sorting office is on my route to work and I always just pop in to pick up parcels!
I really hope they don't see the sticker and get offended! I just hate putting people out! :undecided0 -
And AGAIN, Royal Mail decided to ignore the sticker (4th time!) and left my parcel 2 doors down. Although for the first time he wrote a note to say which house number it was left in which I guess is 1 point to RM??
I prefer not to get stuff delivered to work because it's work and stuff I order is for personal use. But I'm happy to have things undelivered to home because my work is 30 secs away from the PO collection office and I can nip over during my tea break to pick stuff up.
Any point complaining I wonder????Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

complaints(that require it) are updated on the Delivery Office computer system

at least going via customer service creates an audit trail for follow up complaints0
