  • heard nothing applied about a week ago :(
  • I had defaulted on Capital One in the past (bankruptcy) but got a Vanquis last month with £500 and just got a Luma with £1000 which had amazed me! This is despite being turned down for a Next account and a store card recently, I do have a La Redoute account and a Very account (which has increased from £250 to £750 in six months) so I guess it depends on more than just a credit check?

Anyhow, planning to transfer Vanquis balance to Luma then pay that off after Easter so hopefully it'll all count towards my score :)
  • my 6th statement was yesterday and can access the statement online.

No credit limit increase yet after 6 statements ?
Should I be worried and ask them if there are issues ?

I also defaulted on a capital one card a few years ago and applied last week for a luma card I wasn't accepted strait away so thought it would be a decline
But to my amazement I got a PIN number through and my card five days later with a credit limit of £1000

It looks like luma via capital one is quite generous with initial credit limits but don't raise limits that often. capital one own credit cards are very similar i have a classic which was opened nearly 2 years ago and i've never had an increase ! since then i've got other credit cards and an overdraft. I don't think we've had one post where someone has had increase from the opening credit limit.
  • How do LUMA let you know about a credit limit increases ?

Letter or via a secure letter?

Think I'm gonna close the account anyway as my Barclaycard initial limit has just been increased by 2k, which is more than enough for my needs

I would assume its done via letter all my increases with other cc have been done this way. i don't have a luma cc but i have a capital one i'm only keeping it open for the free credit reports it gives me.

I've been given the 'further checks' message :(

I'd assume that'll turn into a decline... Thought it was worth a shot as Cap1 trebled my limit without me asking! Just wanted the interest free until July... plus another active account - I'm moving house soon so won't be getting any credit for quite a while (will be 3 addresses since late 2011) - by the time I am in a decent position to re-apply for anything, I'd be looking at closing some of my accounts down.

hi all, my first post :)
I just wanted to say that despite their literature on the website, if you apply and you already have a Capital One card, they will cancel your application.
When I spoke to the not-so-knowledgeable offshore call centre, the gentleman told me that my application had been cancelled. Not declined but cancelled. I told him that had no meaning to me and to explain, he tried but still made no sense so I asked to speak with someone else. The manager came on the phone and told me that it was due to Capital One's internal lending policy that the application was cancelled and I stated that made no sense to me either. I said an application can be accepted or declined but cancelled means you dealt with it as if I hadn't applied at all (despite the credit check on my file) He told me that the application was cancelled as Capital One's internal lending policy states that you can not hold more than one card with them, as I already have another card with them, I couldn't have the Luma. (I have held my Capital One account for 8 years or so, have never missed a payment) I said that the Luma website says you can have a card even if you have a Capital One card and said I'd like to make a formal complaint. I'm expecting a call from the UK team on Monday. Isn't it annoying when companies say one thing and do another?!?

    What happened?
