Thanks guys. I've been in touch with ofcom who seem more able to help with my landline situation than the BB.

But the point of my post is irrespective of who my landline is with. Orange are telling me that because they no longer offer a BB only service, now that my BB with them is terminated, they are physically unable to reconnect me.

Like you say, this sounds very illegal to me and I can have another go at them. There is nothing in the T+C to say that the 'free BB' extension offer is terminated if there is a problem on the line. I had cheap line rental with Tesco so my overall line + BB was cheaper than anything else I can find now.

    Will keep you posted!

Thanks for coming back to us

Do get an Ofcom case number to give to Orange.

You have it in writing (email) that your BB will be honoured until the end of your mobile contract - if Orange now withdraw that - you have been mis-sold your mobile contract.
    Irrespective of your LL provider!

If you have it in writing that you will get free BB till the end of your mobile contract, and they cannot honour that, then they will have to let you out of your mobile contract. Would this be a good solution for you.?
  • Hi
Just to say that after 16 years with Orange i jibbed them off because of how they treated people over the free BB. I had them phoning me offering an ipad mini etc to stay with them. I'm now with 3 on the one plan with a brand new Xperia T for £27 a month inc tethering on any device. Orange couldn't get near that deal.
Not even if i kept my old phone.
Got my pac code and old number successfully transferred today.
So if you're reading this Orange, this is what happens when you !!!!!! around with loyal customers.
I wasn't actually hit with this, but i left anyway.
Mainly because i'm 99% sure that on signing a new contract they would have terminated my free BB too.
I simply didn't trust their word anymore. nor will i in the future.
  • Hello Forum.

So... I was threatened with BB disconnection, fought it to stay until the end of my current contract, which was only until December 2012 (past). I signed up with talktalk to take over line rental and BB to replace my Orange service (I got a good deal which included £75 cashback from Quidco).

BUT having been two bills into my new contract I can confirm that on both of these, it states I still have

    FREE ORANGE BROADBAND: 08 JAN - 07 FEB £0.00

    (under extras and discounts).

Can anyone else please check your bills if you thought you'd been disconnected and see if this is the case on your bills too?

Was it all a charade to get people to sign up for line rental under only threat? Have some people actually been cut off (ie, one day the BB worked, the next Orange turned it off?). What is going on?!
  • Thanks MrMister

I think if Orange do let me out of the mobile contract early, it would save me quite a lot of money as I really only agreed to pay so much for the BB. So yes, it would be nice!

With regards to the slamming (phone line taken over without my permission), I had my LL with Tesco and Post Office mistakenly installed my neighbour's line in my part of the flat. She's paid for 3 months and is in a 12 month contract and they are not prepared to let her out of it saying it's her fault for neglecting to tell them the flat is divided into separate tenancies. Apparently the responsibility is with Tesco to reconnect me, but they claim they're not able to. I can't access the BB on the new line as my Orange router doesn't work on it. It is extremely frustrating as I'm calling all these different companies and being told different things the whole time. There's no point pursing getting my line only deal again with Tesco if Orange won't give me my BB only back, either. Line was slammed in early Dec!

Update on the Orange situation though. I spoke to another member of staff the other day who told me it's not the case that I won't be able to continue with Orange BB. He said the confusion is because I have a new telephone number now... but hopefully if I can get my old one back, things will be OK. Let's hope!
  • err 'pursuing' I meant to say.

Not sure on the Orange situation. Feel I need to get conf from a second person before I can relax about it.
  • Hi.
Please can somebody tell me if Orange need to be informed by 9pm tonight (Wednesday) or is it 9pm Thursday.
Bit concerned that I won't be able to get through this evening.
    Thanks in advance.
  • Thanks but no need to answer.
    Upgraded online.
  • Well after orange agreed to let me keep my internet till the end of my contract the internet went super slow, (0.25mbps) after about 2 weeks of calls to India they put me through to the to2 team who reset the speed profile an all went back to 6.8mbps (well after the second time they did the reset at least anyway something went wrong the first time) not its back to super slow bb again, another few hours on the phone to India an they decided that there going to have a bt engineer come out which seems a bit wrong as when they reset the speed profile it goes back to full speed, I think orange are squeezing my line to make me move or pay for line rental with them!

Good to see all appears quiet on the western front!

Still no news from my MP as yet - but I will be chasing it all up soon if I hear nothing.
I will report back as and when - in the meantime - no news is good news I guess! :-)
