Hi all,
Thought I should let you all know, after months of getting nowhere with Orange I follwed the advice on here and complained to Ofcom and CISAS. Orange did eventually come back and offer to honour my broadband until the end of my mobile contract but this was after 10 weeks of continually phoning them, speaking to numerous different departments and a stream of e mails, non of which were answered within their published timescales and complaints procedure. Again, due to the info provided on this thread I complained to CISAS, not on the basis of broadband being removed, (business decision!) but due to the fact that they did not adhere to their complaints procedure and also duress caused, not to mention time taken.
The adjudicator awarded the continuation of my free broadband until the end of the contract and also a 3 figure sum (although I had claimed higher compensation).
I would advise however, if anyone does intend to claim compensation, ensure that there is a justifed breakdown of the compensation claimed.

I'm not impacted by the Orange "Free Broadband" offer so please excuse the semi hi-jack. However, I have had a written complaint in with Orange since 19/11/12 (the reason is elsewhere on this forum) I have also chased them up at the beginning of this month. I have heard nothing. I tried to call them on 19/12/12 but after 20mins I gave up. The eight weeks before CISAS are looming in Jan and your post gives me encouragement that I might actually elicit some response.0 -
Hi Barry,
Sorry but I have not looked for you other posts but I would certainly make a point of contacting Ofcom and getting a reference number from them as this does seem to ' gee up ' Orange when it comes to getting a response.
Eva's very helpful step by step guide above gives a great explanation of what process to follow & I am sure will work with most complaints u- all be it with a little tinkering.
Good Luck & Merry Crimbo everyone !

Have I been "Done"?
I am the "tech admin" for my house and my parents house.
Both my wife and my father have Orange phones on contract for more than 5 years and only renewed with orange because of the free broadband offer. (the reception around us is sketchy to say the least, I'm on O2 and it's much better for me)
So both households got the letter.
And I read the posts here but eventually called and got us onto Orange Home broadband with reluctance.
Now two things have happened.
1. Our bills for the landline and calls and broadband are £40 per month per household. Much more than I thought they would be.
2. I read that we may not have had to get involved with this until the contract expire on the handsets. Oct 2013 and Nov 2013.
So, have I inadvertently signed up to 12 month contracts for the landlines and broadband? I was not told about contacts or 12 month tie ins when I signed up on the phone.
I've had no paperwork telling me what I'm signed up for - or any contract.
Now I've had enough. Plus the orange reception has definably deteriorated in our area despite being on EE. Basically the phone have become unusable inside.
So I want to drop orange like a hot stone. I feel this could have been handled so much better. The PR and Marketing Depts at Orange must be idiots. This could have been done with much less fuss and loss of customer. If they had just, at renewal time, said that the broadband deal was off for new contracts there would have been much less fuss spread over a much longer time.
Can I get out of the landline contract and broadband?
We are going to try and use a Wifi dongle with 3 on the roof of the house. Drop our landline completely and change the handsets to O2 when the contracts expire.
This is my plan. Orange free by end 2013.0 -
I foolishly accepted the change of broadband even though it cost me £5 a month more for Orange Line Rental compared to Primus since I seldom make International Calls but I just realised yesterday that they have been charging me for every single Off Peak Call since I switched!!! I am raging. So far this switch has cost me about £80 over 4 months and all I have gotten out of it is a new Router and faster Broadband.
They never told me I was losing off peak calls too. I thought at £15 a month they would be included?
Shocking. I have started writing a letter of complaint.0 -

I wish I could say what I suspect you want to hear - that Orange will be understanding over this and let you out of the contracts that have been entered into but ......
I think that you do not stand much chance I'm afraid. Worth a letter & perhaps a complaint to Ofcom if you truly believe that you were mis - led or information was with held.
I would not hold my breath though based on their previous behaviour .

Has anyone decided to stay with Orange after this fiasco?
My contract expires on 01.02.13 and am weighing up my options at the moment. Apart from this broadband issue I have never had any reason to complain about Orange and their service over the last 6 years. I am quite happy to change supplier and have been looking around.
I spoke to them this afternoon and they have offered me £14pm landline plus £5 broadband, do you guys reckon that's the best deal out there?
I currently pay £9.19pm landline with Primus and am locked in till May. Orange have offered to pay half the termination cost. I'm going to speak with Primus tomorrow to see what they charge for broadband as a comparison and also what their charges are for breaking contract.0 -
Hi retsbed, this doesant hepl what you are trying to do right now,but the answer to the first question you asked is, i absolutely wont be staying with a company that treats its Loyal long time customers the way it has, and i think will do again if it thought it could get away with it, That is ORANGE, ANYTHING ANYHOW, Now EE.0

I said goodbye to Orange (penalty free release) - went to Plusnet - they have some good deals on at the moment and of course you can get line rental saver by paying a year upfront - may be worth considering
http://www.plus.net/home-broadband/
Line Rental Saver
Pay for 12 months line rental in advance for £125.88, equivalent to a monthly price of £10.49 (only available online).
Call features and call charges will still be billed monthly
I think they also do a 30day rolling contract which may tie you over
May be worth checking out?0
