I suspect that during the next year this will give and people will get to use BT's landlines for BB only at a fair charge (my guess £5 a month) for BB only with no home phone.

There are many campaigns over this, and this game of paying for a home phone with line rental exceeding 12 a month when a high % of people just buying the service for BB and not using the home phone.

Time will tell - but i am glad to be out of Orange and on a monthly contract with plusnet awaiting such a move.

I was unaware of those up and coming moves! Thank you!:(
I too am glad to be out the the Orange clutches!
Well pleased with Plusnet too I have to say!

Not definite moves - but many campaigns and govt have discussed.
  • May I suggest that having gone through the sequence of events posted by Eva,Nick and others, that we should keep safe our Ofcom complaint Numbers and other records
When the Legal Pirhanas have finished stripping the PPI & Mis-sold Solar Panel carcasses, they may catch the scent of orange blood.
Some may be circling already. ;)

If you would like a giggle at EE go to their Facebook page. Sorry but as a new user I cannot post the link.

Looking at most of the comments on there it looks like they will not be gaining many new customers to make up for the ones they will be losing over the 'Free for Life' BB offer.

Which makes it all the more surprising to me that so many are handing over landlines, and surprising that so many are happy to stay with Orange if they get the free BB for length of upgrade.

I dont understand why most dont move their BB then follow eva49 process to get out of their mobile contracts penalty free. Still each to their own! Lucky orange getting to 'keep' all these customers!

Well if you have a good deal with Orange then there is no point leaving. Every case is different

Plus you can leave after a year, the landline is only resold by BT so not alot of difference TBH

Are you saying that Ofcom have made the ruling that standalone BB is not to be allowed? - Or have I misinterpreted that?
    Indeed they did.
