Orange 'Free' Broadband

I have now complained to CAB to see what they can do about it.
Still waiting for the exec team to get back to me, they have about a week.:)0 -
phoned orange exec office, logged my complaint and Ofcom Ref number and await the 48 hr call back. I have stated that I categorically will not be moving my landline from BT so if they don't agree to me keeping it with BT and continuing the free BB I want my mobile phone contract cancelled without penalty.Lady said they would review what offer they would make me and let me know in 48 hours! It will be intersting to see if my custom is as valued as Nobby's and Eva's.lol.0

Not sure our custom was 'valued' any higher than anyone else.Think it was more the 'noise' factor lol
You will need to be proactive though, if no call at the 48hr point, you will need to call them.......reminding them of the ofcom rules0 -
Eva, just wondering how staff on staff discounted consumer/squirrel/fox (etc)mobile plans that had FREE broadband are being treated ?
Would that not be a breach of terms of both broadband and employee contract ?
I guess that would depend on how much they valued their jobs??????
Wonder if their job description and contracts are as flexible as the mobile contracts? :eek:0 -
I think there are TWO issues here.
The first being that a Business decision was made to withdraw the "FREE FOR LIFE BROADBAND" which I think that legally they may get away with as an extremely unethical loop hole.
The second being that they have MIS-SOLD a contract to all of us.
This I am sure and having spoken to some friends suggest that this is what we can NAIL them on in a court of law. I may be wrong but with all my other posts and what the CAB and OFCOM regulations dictate I think the MIS-SELLING is what will bring down ORANGE.
Are their any Legal Eagles out there watching this Forum? EVA49 & Nobby you are brill along with many others on this forum.:)0 -
I have been in touch with CAB re mis-sold contract, they in turn reported my complaint to Trading Standards, as it is not possible to contact trading standards direct.
My local Trading Standards Office telephoned me this afternoon to discuss the situation.
It was an interesting conversation regarding legal action.
I am told miss-selling is a criminal offence, which is dealt with as a criminal case and not for civil action.
Civil action has to be brought on the grounds of misrepresentation and breach of contract.
She also suggested requesting tapes of the conversations when renewing contracts, I believe others have requested these already and drawn a blank?........I haven't personally though.
I also mentioned the difficulties in getting any dialogue from Orange having requested where to serve Court papers and which company to serve them on!
I had searched and found it all too unclear
She agreed and was totally unimpressed! Eventually she had to ring off and call me back while she searched and eventually found them.
Thought I would re-post for you .....0 -
PS
They want our landlines because Orange dont have any control of some local telephone exchange neworks. I'm whats called out-net which means they have to pay to actualy supply me with my broadband with a contract with BT. I live in the country so it costs Orange to have me. I think that with the EE rollout they want our landlines desperately in order to Monopolise the market for the 4g network. I know EE are in disscusions with O2 and Vodaphone to get the 4g network out there.
It could be all about our precious landlines which I will never give to Orange!!! I may be taking rubbish but what other reasons are behind their Business Decisions!!!!!
Another PS. Vodaphone & O2 are fierce rivals but they need them on board for the 4g rollout. Personally I dont need supersonic speeds so when I renew my mobile all other networks will have 4g. Hi Vodaphone!!!!!0 -
Next step - MONOPOLIES COMMISION. Will do more homework on this. I dont believe that its our contracts etc in their scheme of things I think it is bigger. The cost to them with regard to free BB until our contracts expire is shi... pence. There is a bigger reason behind all of this. I'd put money on it.0
