Orange 'Free' Broadband

  • I have been patiently waiting for Orange to back down and have been doing some price comparisons on mobile deals as well as broadband etc in the meantime.
I too renewed my orange mobile contract thru Phones 4 u under false promises of Free BB and still have 18 months to run on a £20 per month deal. Carphone wharehouse offering same Galaxy Ace phone/5000 texts/250 mins calls and 500 MB for £7.50 per month. I can continue my BT landline at £10.75 upfront per month incl free w/e &eve calls and broadband for £9 per mnth equals £27.25 against £20 mobile + £14 and no free calls with Orange, so costs £34. Means detrimental cost to me of £6.75 per month. Has anyone got out of their mobile phone contract on a mis selling basis such as the above comparisons as I can't find it anywhere in the 89 pages of this thread!!
BTW Orange offered me the odd amount of £97.25 to switch to their landline service but I anticipate this will be as bad as their mobile service. BT sales guy also warned me that those who switch to Orange would have to pay upwards of £100 to an Open Reach engineer should they ever have problems with their line whilst BT would sort it for free...worth considering if you're mad enough to be tempted to move your landline to Orange.
I want to go down the mis selling of mobile contracts route...anyone had success??
I'll let you know in a week...they have that long to settle out of court, respond, or wait for me to ask for judgement in default :)

    Good Morning all,

I was unable to post after late morning yesterday as I had to take Mrs Nobby to hospital for a follow up appointment from a foot op she had 2 weeks ago, it all took much longer than expected and then I could not get on here last night - busy ? - I wonder why?

So, when I opened my emails there was one from the exec office, they have increased their offer but not by as much as I wanted. They had the cheek to say in the email that although the process was drawn out they had `kept me informed throughout`. That was like a red rag to a bull as I know there were many many days if not weeks when they completely ignored my emails altogether ! so I fired off a quick reply to tell them what I thought of that !

It`s nice to see that some are being told that my offer was not unique, however I do find it strange ( & I appologise if I am proved wrong here ) the poster The Future Is Bright seems to have joined us late on, not that they are alone in this, there must be many out there just finding this forum, but I do find it strange that they seem to have been contacted very quickly. They also seem very `pro Orange` despite all this. Again I appologise to The Future Is Bright if I am just too suspicious, it`s probably you name that does it to me ! For me the future is far from bright, lets not forget here we were promised FREE BROADBAND FOR LIFE and getting it free for the remainder of our current contracts is great but it is still a little short of the Orange original promise.

Let`s hope there is more good news today.

If anyone wants a copy of the `pre court action ` letter / email I sent then please PM me and I will forward a copy, it may need to be tweaked to suit your own circumstances though.

    Cheers...........Nobby.

  • Does anyone have any written evidence to support the "free broadband for life" offer, or are we all mis-quoting? Please dig out your literature and post it on here as I'm yet to find anything conclusive to support our claim on this front. Thank you.

I think the forum was 'broken' rather than busy Nobby ;)

I agree with Nobby and think it very strange how quickly some of our newer members have reached resolution over such a short period of time?

When I lodged my complaint with Exec, I was told mine was just the 2nd formal complaint they had received (initiated 28th August) and yet, resolution was only reached 2 weeks ago following my Notice of Pre-Court Action.

My observation, a lot of long term members have yet to receive a phone call let alone resolution!

All of the above being said, and I apologize unreservedly if my post causes offence to anyone.

Is more likely, lack of organisation, chaos and confusion within Orange.
This demonstrated many times by total lack of communication between the mobile and BB divisions of this corporation!

But what do I know? ......... just my thoughts

Were you on this Canary plan?.............because I was.......and like fitz observes, I thought initially it was for the length of my initial 18month contract.

ONLY on renewal of that contract was I informed - NO! Your Free BB is for LIFE as long as you continue as a mobile customer with Orange.

I am at my 18th email 3 private facebook messages to orange helpers sent back and forward to Orange/ofcom, plus several phone calls, and a fax for good measure. Still haven't had a satisfactory response to my complaint. All began from the end september/beginning of October.

Thanks, and yes, I was on the canary plan. This document also shows that I should have had a magic number, which Orange took away on my last renewal but didn't tell me, resulting in a massive bill one month.

They did that to me also! - removed all my magic numbers - think I had either 2-3, ( on reflection now should have been more!) - and was when I renewed in 2009! I went over to BlackBerry.

At that time, whilst I 'voiced my opinion' and was told it shouldn't have happened, I didn't struggle too much as I barely used them.

Nobody will pay £100, you were misinformed.
  • Hi All,

I have had contact with member here - The Future Is Bright.

I feel I should appologise to them as I have no `evidence` to suggest that they are anything other than unhappy Orange customers like ourselves.

So The Future Is Bright - I am sorry .

I should have kept my thoughts to myself !

Good Luck all - anyone had any contact yet ?

    Nobby.
