Many thanks to Eva49, Fitz2012, NickBirkin, Nobby1963 et al for all the valuable information. Well done to those who got what they wanted. Power to the people. It is nice to know that there are some self-less people out there trying to help others.

I wanted to keep my line rental with BT and stay with Orange but sadly it is not to be. My problem is that the mobile contract attached to the free broadband is out of contract. So it is a "take it or leave it" conversation with Orange.

I may try one last phone call.....

that's awkward as the 'new deal' is fulfilling the free BB for the length of contract.

However as they operate a rolling contract when the official contract is over - ie if you just keep paying for the mobile they dont ask you to sign a new contract - could this be leverage? and could this help others keep the free BB even longer?

Try not to get too stressed, it will get sorted, and I am pretty sure your BB will not get cut off.
Your complaint has been logged now.
To date it has taken 8 weeks to make them see sense, but should be straightforward now for customers who follow the complaints procedure and get an Ofcom case number.;)

Thany you Eva49 again I sent them a e-mail saying how it would affect me, if i could win the lottery i would send you on holiday for the help you have given. People like you renew my faith in the human race.
  • I was literally at the point of signing up to Sky when I read the latest developments.

I'm really not bothered about the possibility of changing now, but I do wonder - now that Orange seem to have accepted that they were wrong will they still be cutting off those who aren't on the spreadsheet?
  • Again I wish to thank you great people. Just had a call from the specialist team and she has confirmed that YES my free broadband will continue until June 2014. I expressed my utter disgust for the company and have requested a formal apology from the CEO. I have also asked for a copy of my contract in writing which she is going to arrange and have also asked for some form of compensation due to the stress and time wasting this has caused being a loyal customer from freeserve days. JEZSTER dont worry you will be able to keep your free broadband, sit tight.
This is a fantastic outcome, because everyone collectively pushed very hard,

THE FUTURE IS ORANGE - Most definately not, once my contract expires!!!!

  • Following my original post (1737) as sugested on this forum I phoned ofcom today at 1.45 pm and was given a reference number. The lady comfirmed that they have had a lot of similar complaints!
Called Orange Executive office at 2.45 as advised on here and was told they would phone me back within the next few days. Also asked me what I would be happy with, so said everything that was agreed by the salesperson in my original contract which icluded free BB and uncapped limits. Nothing less would I except!
    Lets see what happens.

Excellent - i would give them 5 days max - the ofcom ref should put you on the spreadsheet - ask for compensation as well when they ring.

That is one of the lessons i have learned through this as well! Its just not a good deal - you pay more for a contract with a phone!

Virgin 12 a month sim on monthly contract: 1200 mins, unlim txt, 1gb mobile net = compared to Orange who were getting about 35 a month from me for 500 mins, unlim txt and 500MB mobile net!

That saves me over 20 a month for loads more minutes and mobile net - which more than covers new handsets every couple of years!

I agree for those with the means to buy handsets outright, the unlimited minutes deals with T-Mobile, o2, Vodafone, Orange (Apple/retention deals only) are amazing, I remember paying Voda £15 for no minutes and like 75p a min to landlines & mobiles !

3 turned the UK market on its head, now its the only one not to do UNLIMITED mins.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Chin up mate, been there, positive & proactiveness & putting my foot down aworked for me better than any meds they gave me in my youth !!! As for money worries, dont worry, no-one can take from you in a court what you dont have !!! You can only get stressed or down if you entertain it such irrelevances in the first place.

If you win a tenner on the lotto, put 1p in a cancer collection tin for me, if you win big well I'll leave the amount upto you ;)

Orange will come through for you they know the are getting as screwed back as they tried to do to us mere "customers", so thats one thing out the way, on and up squire, on & UP !

I have been unable to post this prior to today, as like Orange T&C's, I needed to dot the" I's" and cross the "T's".
Yesterday I finalized my Orange account
Today I completed the process of transferring my BB services.

Having reached resolution with Orange, subsequent to issuing my Notice of Pre-Court Action, I was released penalty free from my contract.
I must emphasize this was NOT my 1st choice.
What I asked for, was in fact reinstatement of my free BB for the length of my contract (albeit I had free BB for Life)

However, due to the Great Orange Turnaround, after having reached resolution with Orange 2 weeks ago, It leaves me with a very bitter/sweet taste in my mouth albeit more cash in my pocket each month!

Plusnet £9.49 includes evening & weekend calls line rental paid upfront for 12 months
    Plusnet BB £5.74 a month 12 month half price contract 60GB - Unlimited downloads 12 midnight - 8am

Previously £14.60 per month BT evening & weekend calls + Free BB

Virgin Mobile £12.00 per month = 1200minutes + Unlim texts + 1GB (Sim only) 30 day rolling contract

Previously £39 per month Orange Panther 41

I am rendered totally speechless by the 'Ostrich Syndrome' the higher management adopted to their approach!
Leaving the front line staff to take all the grief whilst those in their Ivory Towers sit smugly pondering their next move!
Seven and a half weeks of grief and lies and now a total back-down

Loyalty means nothing! Customer since mid 90's

Good Luck to all and in particular the "Home Brew Perry Masons" on the forum

Never again will I enter into a Mobile Contract.

By the way did you get it in writing - or have you done your final bill settle up? I did not manage to get anything in writing
