Orange 'Free' Broadband

I have been unable to post this prior to today, as like Orange T&C's, I needed to dot the" I's" and cross the "T's".
Yesterday I finalized my Orange account
Today I completed the process of transferring my BB services.
Having reached resolution with Orange, subsequent to issuing my Notice of Pre-Court Action, I was released penalty free from my contract.
I must emphasize this was NOT my 1st choice.
What I asked for, was in fact reinstatement of my free BB for the length of my contract (albeit I had free BB for Life)
However, due to the Great Orange Turnaround, after having reached resolution with Orange 2 weeks ago, It leaves me with a very bitter/sweet taste in my mouth albeit more cash in my pocket each month!
Plusnet £9.49 includes evening & weekend calls line rental paid upfront for 12 months
Plusnet BB £5.74 a month 12 month half price contract
Previously £14.60 per month BT evening & weekend calls + Free BB
Virgin Mobile £12.00 per month = 1200minutes + Unlim texts + 1GB (Sim only) 30 day rolling contract
Previously £39 per month Orange Panther 41
I am rendered totally speechless by the 'Ostrich Syndrome' the higher management adopted to their approach!
Leaving the front line staff to take all the grief whilst those in their Ivory Towers sit smugly pondering their next move!
Seven and a half weeks of grief and lies and now a total back-down
Loyalty means nothing! Customer since mid 90's
Good Luck to all and in particular the "Home Brew Perry Masons" on the forum
Never again will I enter into a Mobile Contract.
Bitter sweet: I feel for you over that, as your first choice was keep the free BB. However when cold reality sets in you will be glad of your outcome: your much better off financially, out of contract with EE, on a monthly stunning sim only deal with Virgin, BB with a decent provider with good reputation. That is all win win win.
Would you really have been happy staying with this mis managed company - paying more for inferior CS and BB? how would you feel when they 'change' things again in a few months? You know they are in a mess and can't be trusted again!0 -

That is one of the lessons i have learned through this as well! Its just not a good deal - you pay more for a contract with a phone!
Virgin 12 a month sim on monthly contract: 1200 mins, unlim txt, 1gb mobile net = compared to Orange who were getting about 35 a month from me for 500 mins, unlim txt and 500MB mobile net!
That saves me over 20 a month for loads more minutes and mobile net - which more than covers new handsets every couple of years!0 -

You are the voice of reason and of course absolutely correct in your observation :T0 -
Just checked my email ;
Dear Mr me,
Thank you for your recent email. I have within the last 24 hours, received a new update from the Broadband team.
The team are now able to honour your existing free Broadband plan, to the end of your mobile agreement - 28 January 2014. At this point the deal will expire in full and you will be free to seek alternative options moving forward. Also due to the inconvenience that has been caused and the length of time involved, I personally would like to add a credit for £100.00 to your mobile phone account.
I sincerely apologise that I was unable to offer this before today, unfortunately the option was not available to myself or the Broadband team until now. Please let me know if you would like to accept this offer and I will ensure that the above actions are completed.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.
Yours sincerely

A word of caution.
I almost feel bad saying this, but: (and i hope i am wrong)
Despite what was wrote to Nobby and the great result for him – exec have always maintained to some of us that this will be dealt with on a ‘person by person’ basis. As such this may not be the result for everyone. Myself and others have not had a result in writing and I think this may be an exception.
If the implied content of Nobbys email is Orange backtracking on their decision (and for those of you still fighting I hope it is) then there will be an announcement or a glut of other results here in the next few days. And I bet if they have an announcement it will be made on watchdog – to appease their tattered reputation.
So just a word of caution!
Also I bet results and outcomes will only be for those who fight for justice – as Nobby and others have done. If they do backtrack it would stop more people fighting them I guess – its cheaper for them to continue free BB than to allow for compensation or people walking penalty free.
As stated early in the thread they operate on percentages – most people will not have come here or fought, most will have rolled over and signed their line rental to Orange, there is probably just a small % left who may get outcomes by following the process posted here on mse.0 -

You are absolutely right about the predictably infamous behaviour of the Orange inglorious basterds, but the precedent has been created! That's why I am so happy! If I have to go via a legal route, it will be very difficult for them to explain why they have honoured one case but not another identical.0 -

That is true they have created a precedent, and people should be grateful to Nobby for posting the email!0
