Apparently, what they've said on the phone is, that they'll match the age of the phone, so for example mine was 2 months old, they will try and source one that is exactly the same age (or close it)...let's see...

I should receive it today if they keep up their "within 48 hours" thing, but i've seen a little side note that says it could take longer if the supplier is out of stock and blah blah....

how can they tell how old your phone is? when I never had to type in when I bought my phone. all these reviews have worried me as I have just taken out insurance for my Iphone and laptop which I would like to keep as not made of money!! :(

    WORST INSURANCE PROVIDER EVER!
I took out cover on my iPhone 5 nine months ago after buying it brand new from an independent retailer. I emailed PYB the receipt of purchase and they swiftly insured me. Yesterday my iPhone was stolen and after calling PYB they told me that because I bought my iPhone from an independant shop rather than apple/O2 they would not replace my fone, despite the fact they knew where I bought it from when I first took out the policy.
I guess it's my own fault for not saving my correspondence with them when I first took out the policy, they say they won't get a transcript of the conversation when I first took the policy out. Now I just don't know what to do, I'm going to try taking legal action and contacting trading standards but what a nightmare! I doubt ill ever see the replacement fone I was promised, please take my advice and do not be mugged by protect your bubble the way I have!

unfortunately it does actually say in their terms and conditions about this. its not up to them its up to you to read their terms and conditions
  • Put in a claim for my iPhone and they asked for proof of purchase.. so I send the bill from vodafone with address, phone number and amount for the handset upgrade.. they said the jpeg was "too small"...strange, it is an A4 scan and asked me to send it as a jpeg or word doc..as it had been sent as a jpeg, I sent it pasted on to a word doc..and they said it had been rejected.. so I called and the CSR said.. "oh yes, your record shows you had written the proof of purchase yourself" - so I pointed out that accusing me of creating and sending in a false proof of purchase was an accusation of fraud, a criminal offence and demanded it be noted in my claim that I had not written it..After calling Vodafone, they told me to use Vodafone support chat to get proof of purchase.. and it took 3 of us 20 mins to find that on vodafone.com ... I finally got a proof of purchase with IMEI from Vodafone and sent that to Protect Your Bubble... I have a policy with them for my iPad.. and the only proof of purchase is inside a weekly shop till receipt from Tesco..so I will not be renewing...will see what happens with the phone though... extremely dissatisfied and cannot believe that a scanned bill is classed as a home made counterfeit document created to defraud them! The CSR said that people do it all the time to make a receipt with IMEI .. they just download the Vodafone logo etc and type it themselves and that's what we think you have done...
Will wait to see what happens next
  • welll.. having sent in the proof of purchase with IMEI ... PYB emailed me to confirm receipt... and then emailed me to say they had received it... but that it had no IMEI....I couldn't believe it and as I was waiting in the call queue I was writing a very snippy email!
Then they answered and claimed that it was all OK and that I had sent 2 emails (I hadnt) and that the second one was OK and had the IMEI number...and I had missed the post and wouldn't get the jiffy bag posted till Monday now.. and had to pay £50 excess as well... definitely not renewing phone or iPad with PYB.... what a complete nonsense... worst customer service I have ever come across
  • All these negative comments about protect your bubble!
well let me share my experience with ya'll.
i made a claim with protect your bubble regarding my phone which kept restarting itself. they sent me a email and told me to fax or email documents through to them to show them that the phone was mine. i faxed them through the same day.. and ON the same day within couple of hours i got a call saying my claim was succesful and to send my phone through post when i get the jiffy bag which i got on the day the lady told me which was the 10/2/14. i sent my phone the following day, and they could not replace my handset. but i recieved a BRAND NEW iphone whithin 5 WORKING days. i am absaloutly happy with the service i recieved. my old phone had dents and scratches on it and having a new phone was a bonus. thank you protect your bubble! :) xxxxxx:j:j

I'd like to add a positive review after seeing all of these bad reviews. I had my iPhone stolen on a night out and contacted the police and network straight away to block the phone (it's important to do this asap if wanting to make a claim on insurance, but wouldn't most people cancel straight away anyway?!) I filled in the claim form on protect your bubble website as the phone line was closed and within 24 hours received an email requesting my Proof of Purchase. This was very simple to get, literally just phoned my network who emailed it to me, I then forwarded this onto protect your bubble. Less than 12 hours of sending it in, protect your bubble emailed me saying my claim had been accepted and provided a telephone number for me to ring in order to pay my excess. I did this and the man on the other end was very helpful, explained all that needed to be done and that I needed to pay the remaining premiums on my policy as it was under 12 months old, but I then wouldn't pay any remaining premiums for the rest of the year. My replacement iPhone has just arrived through the post 24 hours after this phone call and looks brand new! I couldn't be more impressed with protect your bubble, as long as you do the simple things they request, which certainly weren't difficult, then they provide excellent insurance for a very cheap price. I read all of these bad reviews whilst my claim was going through and convinced myself that mine wouldn't be accepted or I would face problems, but this wasn't the case at all. Thanks Protect Your Bubble and expect my contract to be renewed with you!
  • Shocking !!!! really do not go there!!
Why and how do these companies last !
What happened to HONEST business practice?

  • How long have you worked there?
Please post P45 of employer !!
    never read such dribble !!!
  • Just created a account with MSE so I could say thanks for all the previous threads. I was about to take out PYB insurance for my 4s. I will definitely be looking elsewhere. PYB seem like scum of society.

    Thanks again
  • I wanted to post my experience with PYB as unlike many it is POSITIVE

I dropped my phone in the loo on Easter Sunday. After trying a few recommended tricks to dry it out it was still playing up so on Bank Holiday Monday I submitted my claim online, nice and straightforward
On Tuesday morning I sent the proof of purchase (luckily i had this in an email, i wasnt aware this was needed to make a claim when i took out my insurance so this may trip some people up)
On Wednesday i had an email asking me to pay the £50 excess. I phoned and paid and they said an envelope would be sent to me to send my phone to them which they would then look to repair/replace. At first I was annoyed at the time span as it would take 2 days for the envelope then 3-5 days for them to send it back once theyd received it but I understand they cant just send out brand new phones willy nilly and that some faults can be repaired.
Today I turned my phone on on the off chance i could retrieve something from it and found that it worked, totally fine! I phoned and explained the situation and straight away they offered me a refund on the £50 excess and closed the claim but said i could reopen it and pay again if i found there were still issues. The man on the phone called Jerry couldn't have been more helpful. I am really pleased with the service. Obviously I never experienced the actual process of sending a phone off for repair but after reading some horror stories I was prepared for them to refuse a refund, but they were more than happy to refund it.
I hope everyone has a similar positive experience and they have used the negative reviews to turn themselves around :)
