Trying for a Baby Part 8

thanks for your reply.
And I understand that people have had really horrid experiences (mc and ttc for a long time) but if i go into ttc with that mind set then thats not postive. i believe in postive mental attitude and i certainly am not going to go into this by thinking oh god its gonna take years. and yes some people do just have sex and get pregant very easy- and others do take a long time- i understand that.
But having brought stuff- being prepared and doing it with spending no money (as said before- with vouchers) I am not cursing myself- or putting pressure on myself at all. I feel very calm about ttc and excited and coming on to this forum tonight shocked me- with all the talk about... and ohh pm me who it is messages.
i am young, healthy, not overweight, no known problems. and yes i understand that doesnt mean that i wont have ttc issues- but why would anyone go into ttc with the wrong mind set- im not.
if i dont get to use the baby 'stuff' next year then so be it- but as i said- i have done nothing wrong- i am not harming anyone- i am not putting any pressure on myself- and i thought by coming back on this forum to say how excited i am about my ttc journey i thought i would get support- which i have- but not from some people who feel they can comment on something which is nothing but ok.
As I said before- i understand some people struggle to conceive or have mc- but I am not one of those people (yet, and hopefully never will be) so buying things for my future child is nothing but sensible, exciting and right for me.Is a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

I'm sorry our talk has upset you, we never mean it to be,like ikkle says, we just think you're really really brave
I have a cupboard I never ever ever go in as it has things that were given to me before I lost my baby by an excited auntie
Has anyone here bought any baby things? I personally wouldn't because I'd feel like it was tempting fate and I'm not confident that I'll get to have a baby at all, what if I adopt? They'll probably be way past the baby stage. My cupboard does worry me in that way but I figure as they was given to ,e by someone on his side of the family if someone else in the family gets pregnant I'll pass it onto them.
Also, my favourite baby related daydream, and one I had the last time I was pregnant too is choosing a special outfit to buy after the twelve week scan and that would be the first thing I bought them. Last time it was a really cute dumbo one and my sister bought it for my niece and showed me and I cried for half an hourx x

Sammy you don't have to justify yourself, whatever you want to do is the right thing for you. I think some ladies here have been burnt in the past, myself included.
When I was pregnant for the first time, I told quite a few people very early on which turned out to be a big mistake as I mc'd at 9 weeks and had to go round un-telling everyone which was horrible.
I also INSISTED on buying a little teddy bear hat in Mothercare when we went for a window shop in the early days. OH told me not to buy anything and tempt fate, but me being me had to have my own way and bought the hat.
Later that afternoon I started bleedingTalk about timing.
I still have that hat, although Joshua never wore it when he came along. I kind of think it was for the first baby..silly innit.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
hi teamlowe- thanks for your response
i suppose i am not at the point- and thank god- that i have never experienced a mc or been ttc for a long time- so I don't have that pain about having a cupboard of baby 'stuff'- currently they are all really nice feelings that i have and this is why i have brought 'stuff'.
i was upset and shocked that i was being slated- for doing nothing!
if this slating started by ppl saying aww theres someone who is really excited and she is buying things for her future child- then i would have been fine. but ppl saying the things they did- and then private messaging about it i feel is very hurtful.
and as i said before- i havent experienced mc or ttcfor a long time- and i hope i never do- but i hope that if that does happen to me then i would be supportive of people who are starting their ttc journey and be happy for themIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

As the person that instigated that pre-emptive buying chat I think that it is a matter of personal choice and just because one person doesnt wish to tempt fate it doesnt mean that everybody believes in that sort of thing and adheres to it.
I can understand the upset on here when somebody is perceived as 'bragging' but I do think it is a little unfair to be criticizing somebodys choice with regards to buying things, a lot of us do like to save money on here and so buy things cheaply at every opportunity!
As long as people who choose to 'pre-buy' understand there is no guarantees when it comes to TTC then its really not hurtful IMO to anybody else.0 -
