Trying for a Baby Part 8

Lily - part of the problem is that I'm not under the care of a consultant but the GP and sometimes i think I know more than he does! I'm really not even sure I should be on clomid at all, I had one anovulatory month (that I know of) and they put me straight on it. I'm really not sure whether to stay on it or not, if I'd bled mid cycle again I'd be thinking no, but I've been ok this month so was possibly just a one -off as my body was getting used to it.
At least you are being properly monitored by someone who knows what they are talking about!0 -
With that, I don't know if I'll ever get pregnant.
Right now my BMI is at 50.1. It's still 1.8 BMI points down from Christmas though, so that's a start.
It can still happen - I saw a programme about a lady who was pregnant with triplets and didn't know until she went into labour. This sounds preposterous but she was very very large. I guess anything can happen in the wonderful world of pregnancy!0 -

Oh gosh I see. So a GP has prescribed you clomid after 1 blood test that showed low progesterone?! Have you had an HSG or anything? Has your partner had an SA?
If no to all of the above, it does seem rather odd. If your tubes are blocked or your partner has poor sperm clomid won't do any good and possibly some harm. I'd probably go and see a different GP. I don't know anyone on these boards in your situation. How long have you been trying?14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -

I'm still reading with interest all the talk about the CBFM. If we don't get a BFP this cycle I might bite the bullet and fork out for one next cycle. Trouble is I'm not sure it's really necessary for me, apart from this month I'm regular to within a couple of days and temping works for me, so in theory as long as we keep bd-ing until my temp rises we should catch it?
Oh I meant to say, I watched the Baby Makers documentary yesterday, it was very interesting (and made me cry more than once). I thought the staff at the hospital, especially the doctor, were amazing.
If you have a regular cycle but want to pin point ovulation I'd buy some cheap ovulation sticks for a few quid before worrying about the cbfm, and see how you get on with those first. Or like you said just bd a lot at the approximate time. Especially if you're temping I don't think you need to buy one as that will confirm it anyway even if after the event.0 -
The hospital rang me today to tell me they have my day 21 bloods- unfortunately they'd gone home by the time I rang after work. Argh- gonna stress all night about them! :-/0

Thanks Claire. I do have cheap opks, but they have never really worked for me, I get a line of sorts usually on days 15/16 but it's never darker than the control line and I could never say it's a definitive positive, no matter what time of day I test. When I use up this batch I won't bother buying any more.0 -
Well done on the weight loss Mrs_T_M. Any tips?
TCD, I know it's impossible but try not to worry. Whatever the results are, you can't change them. If there is a problem at least you will get some help and if it's all ok, you can stop worrying. Either way, you're a step closer to your baby.
Yet another baby has just been born. That's 4 in the last 2 weeks, three of which are boys. I'm hoping from a break from newborns in a bit.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

That is correct, I was in my first month of trying (October) and did not get a LH surge so they did a progesterone and it came back low (3) so they put me on clomid straight away. I took clomid in November and had a normal progesterone and then December and it came back at 16. Now I'm in my third month of clomid.
I have no known fertility problems and conceived my son accidentally 2 years ago when I was on the pill!!!!! (although had forgotten it a few days that month). No HSG or SA as assuming all ok from before (although I'm aware things can change)
I wish now I had waited another month to see if the first month when I got a low progesterone was a one off.
What harm can clomid do? Am I better off coming off it?0 -

I'll PM you14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Wow, lots of testing coming up in the next week. Thanks for the lists Becca, As an aside, can you change me to 9dpo please
an9i77 - I'm not very clued up on fertility investigations, but it seems odd that your gp would put you onto clomid straightaway without any other investigations? Is there another gp that you can see?
Hugs codemonkey. There is definitely a baby boom. Babies everywhere, or so it seems. And lots of baby programmes on the telly
angeltreats - tbh, if you are not having loads of joy out of the ov strips, I'm not sure if the CBFM will be as useful. Saying that, I find it helpful in taking the guessing out of it. And if you don't get on with it, they hold their value very well on eBay.
tcd - good luck with your bloods results. Will you call them back first thing?0
