I wouldn't worry about feeling clueless Danielley, I reckon the majority of us started out not knowing a thing about the real ins and outs of TTC! :) I'll now casually mention LP and CD to my friends when they ask me how we're doing re TTC and they give me blank looks because they haven't got a freaking clue what I'm on about! I daren't even mention CM as they'll be mortified! :p

Kelly, maybe you should wait to see what happens this month before worrying about a short LP :) And always stay away from Google! ;)

That goes for you too Code, you should know better! This is a Zero SS Zone!!! :p

I know. I also know that I can't have symptoms at 3dpo but it doesn't stop me googling because, well, I'm dumb.:rotfl::rotfl:

Lol Code, I'm SSing too! Very vivid dream last night, really weird one. But boobs no longer sore unless I squash them hard and then of course they would hurt!

    Not too hopeful TBH.

Someone on another forum I go on just posted she got a BFP a few days ago and it's made me sick with jealousy and very sad. It's not a TTC form so was a shock to read it. I'm such a horrible person.

Aah my old friend BFP envy. I think we've all been there. I was in a mood for days because my ex's girlfriend had a baby. Not because I want to have a baby with him but because I want a baby so badly and she tricked him and he didn't even want one and even though he's totally in love now she's here, it still seems really unfair. Sometimes I feel like there's a BFP quota and through some kind of error its being filled by people who don't even want one
when there are so many of us waiting for our babies.

Yup that's the ole parallel universe situation with regards to BFPs for those that don't want them and BFNs for those that do.

I do believe most people get there in the end though so hang on in there.

Reading back over this whole thread, its funny to read the people who got frustrated and said they would probably never end up with a BFP now graduated to the pregnancy threads!
  • hi all, just wanted to pop in and say hi, hugs to anyone that needs wants one. i dont mean to sound stupid but is there any way of knowing when im ov ? :o i get twinges on my left side every 2 months (i have a cyst in my ovary that side) but never seem to get anything from the right so was wondering if theres any other tips and tricks to working ut when you ov without buying kits etc as we are going to be NTNP but would be great if i could work out when our maximum chance of conception each month was :)

    many thanks

If you've been tracking your cycles, you can sort of pinpoint the fertile time by counting backwards, although obviously it's not going to tell you the actual date of ovulation. Your luteal phase is generally constant and between 10-16 days, so if you count backwards from the first day of proper bleeding you'll get a rough idea. Then it's a question of using opks or cervical mucus or temping or a mixture to track when you're fertile.

When you're fertile your cm will be clear and stretchy like raw egg white. Once you've ovulated it dries up really quickly.

Of course, if you can't be bothered with all that, and your OH is willing, dtd every 2-3 days through your cycle should mean that whenever the egg does pop out there will be sperm waiting.

Optimistic Mummy, Code just gave this useful advice to someone else this afternoon. :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • Hi, think I need to join this thread.

I've had PCOS for years and very few periods, maybe one or two per year. I have been told by my consultant I will need Clomid, but due to my weight I need to lose a few stone and bring my BMI down.

Since Aug I have had a regular period. We have not actively been ttc until now. According to ovulation calculators I should be ovulating this week. I got my ovulation test kit today. Apparently I am ovulating :j

Now I'm unsure if I am or if its just my hormones giving me a false positive because of PCOS.

I am trying very hard to get my bmi down, I have approx 1.9 stone to go until they will be happy to let me have Clomid again (took it years ago with ex husband, 2 months then got divorced!)

    Any advice?
