Hi MV, I took low dose aspirin for a few cycles. It made my AF slightly longer (although it had been abnormally short, so maybe would have changed anyway). No other change I could see.

I suspect you are going to the same FS as me. LWC?
  • Yes LWC. What is your experience of them?

    Worth the money?

I only went last week, so I am not really sure. The initial session is just an internal ultrasound, and a chat with the specialist. If you can get any tests done in advance you should do, as they are now making me wait for the SA results before doing anything else. But that is also because I had nothing visible wrong, and I had CD21 tests that looked fine.

I will have to pay for a follow up now to go back and discuss the SA test results. They have given me a list of tests to do with my GP (Normal STI stuff, HIV, Hep B etc) which cost a few hundred with them, but your GP will probably do for free. Plus a smear and a Rubella antibodies test. They will encourage you to go to your GP for tests as it's much cheaper.

SA if £100 with them, but DH is doing it on NHS this week. I did get one test done (some kind of 'how old are your eggs' test) which was £90. I could have done that at the GP I suspect, but I don't know how easy that conversation is 'Hi - I'd like to use the free NHS services for something you don't think I qualify for'.

Anyway, they are nice and friendly, and the environment is welcoming and not intimidating. That's all I can tell you now!
  • Thanks for the heads up! I hope you get something from it all.

It makes you realise how much having a successful pregnancy is taken for granted by so many people. I made the mistake of watching Jeremy Kyle this morning and once again it was laden with disgusting, scummy people who either have children they can't be ar5ed with, or are pregnant with poor unborn mites who will come into a horrible world.

How on earth do these people do it????

They are younger than us! And probably much more time on their hands to keep 'practising'. :)

Re the cost - ask yourself, what else would you spend it on that would be more important to you? What have you spent last year that you would give up to get to see a FS straight away? We have discussed it and have moved £10k into a reserved account. We are buying a house (and have a shiny new tax bill!) but I wanted to know it was reserved, so we can not worry about money at the same time as everything else.

I know I'm lucky to have that luxury, but you could also get a credit card with a limit assigned only to this cost - or even a personal loan. Not very MSE I suppose, but money has a purpose, and if it can help TTC I'm happy to spend it. I've saved for years, and now is the rainy day!

On a slightly more positive financial note - I found a receipt for a lost M&S Gift card (£100) that I had written off. But now I have the card number I can use the voucher online! Yay!
  • I agree with you 100%, there isn't anything more worthy of spending that money on in my opinion.

I have also contacted a specific miscarriage clinic who I am waiting to hear back from, and once I have all the information in front of me, we will decide how we want to proceed.

OH is keen for us to give it another whirl this month but without all the pressure of ov sticks etc, so will try that and see what happens.

For us, we seem to be able to conceive ok, it's just hanging onto the pregnancy which seems t be the challenge. I think I am going to give the low dose aspirin a go too this month.

We have some 'rainy day' savings too, and I would be more that prepared to use them if needs be.

know what you mean about JK. The more feral members of my family churn out babies like crazy. There's one particular one who has a different babysitter for every night so she doesnt have to look after her kids at all. And none of them quit smoking either. So not fair.

Why am I still having pg symptoms? I have bad stomach cramps which I've had since ov, my boobs hurt, caffeine is affecting me badly, one glass of wine is giving me headaches and I feel sick all the time. AF was normal so I know I'm not. Bad mean body.

Was at a wedding at the weekend and there were so many pg women there including one at our table who wouldnt shut up about it and if she wasnt talking about it she was stroking her belly. Then I started convincing myself that everyone who wasnt drinking was pregnant. Sigh.

really sorry about the losses and cd1s.
