  • Afternoon Ladies,

Code - good luck with the testing. I agree that Boots own brand are rubbish. Still hoping for you tho'.;)

Lilymay - Thinking of you. Hope things are getting better.

LTL - Did I read your post wrong? They have detected a hormone problem but are not going to do anything about it? I would definately be registering with another doctor. As for them waiting for you to get your BMI below 30 ,my doc pointed out to me that hormone imbalances make losing weight incredibly difficult.

Lao-cat - Enjoy your chocolate and wine. Hugs for cd2.

Raz - Enjoy your holiday. ;)

Hugs for all the ladies caught by the witch.

I swear all your cycles seem to roll around so fast I am a little envious. My first appointment with the fertility specialist is on Wednesday so hopefully she will be able to do something helpful to get me knocked up:rotfl: and/or shorten my cycles. OH also has his second SA test next week so I have my fingers crossed for good results. Although it turns out the 'facitlites' at the hospital for providing the sample was a toilet:eek: Poor OH, talk about the least sexy place in the world.

Thanks to whom ever used my FF account as a referrer, the extra 5 days reward are greatly appreciated:j

Oh my goodness I should not have read that "wanted a girl...." thread.

Just spotted that thread, but haven't read it yet. I worked with someone who had three boys and when she was pregnant with the younger two she made no secret of the fact that she wanted a girl and that she was hugely disappointed when she found out they were boys. Actually, she was disgusted rather than disappointed.

    Some people are just unbelievable.

Nope, you read right!! And when I spoke to the doctor before, he said we'd have to wait 18 months. Now that I have the problem, it is 2 years?! Go figure.

Yes, that makes it even more ridiculous when it could affect my effort to lose weight too.

Hope your appointment goes well this week. :) Your poor OH having to do that in the loo!

Big hugs Trina, normally your cycle post-mc CD1 is counted from the last day of bleeding. Ovulation can be anytime though, are you going to be trying straight away?
Take good care of yourself and your DH xx

  • I've just rung the surgery back... A different doctor has looked at the results and, the receptionist informs me, there's 'a chance' I have PCOS.

'WHAT?' I said. 'And they weren't going to bother telling me?!'

I know it's not her fault, but really that place couldn't organise a p1ss-up in a brewery.

I apologised after that, no good to have a go at her.

Then I was advised the best treatment for that is losing weight, which of course I have to do anyway, as they won't refer me until I am under a BMI of 30. But this doctor says we need to have been trying for 18 months. But earlier today the other doctor had changed that to two years...

I have no idea what the eff is going on quite frankly.

What I do know (if we don't change surgeries) is: We can't be referred until we've been trying for 18 months and we're both under a BMI of 30. We've both been losing weight anyway, but both have a way to go. This is a huge pressure, and what do I do under pressure? Comfort eat. !!!!!!.

DH has just booked an appointment so that he can ask if he can get his soldiers tested. Would just be nice to know what we're BOTH working with here. He's furious with the doctor's surgery and we are thinking about complaining.

I have two friends with PCOS (one with children), so at least I have friends to talk to about this.

thank you all, im ok, ive kind of made my peace with it by looking on the bright side, weve managed it once so itll happened again, and its definitel not my last chance and ive got a lovely hubby who is there for me and isnt going anywhere.

thank you TeamLowe, i wouldnt have known that, not at D1 yet, still bleeding atm, i think we probably will start trying again from there and see what happens but not put any pressure on it since we're off on holiday in just under 6 weeks:)

((Hugs)) LTL - I had a similar experience in that the receptionist told me everything was 'satisfactory' and it was only when I booked a follow up appointment (off my own bat) that the GP said I might have PCOS! I would definitely book a face to face appointment with a GP (a nice one, if possible!) and ask what the next steps are. They should refer you for a scan of your ovaries to confirm if you have PCOS as they shouldn't diagnose it on bloods alone. Re: the weight loss - it can make a big difference, but people do underestimate how extremely difficult it can be. Would it be worth asking for a referral to a dietician or something? I know a number of people who have had success with the GI diet with PCOS, but it's not for everybody.

Glad you have friends to talk to about it, and remember to come on here and chat and rant as we are all here to support you, and a number of the ladies on here (including me) have experience of PCOS and will be happy to virtually chat about it.

Hope your OH can get his swimmers tested - as you say it's good to know now rather than later if there are any issues there.

    In the meantime, big ((hugs)).
