I think it is obvious that you hate the police from your comments.

That is a false conjecture, because you are pre judging, I still work with the police on most working days.

So am I - it does not make me deliberately misunderstand words.

I don't have a clue what makes you misunderstand words (deliberately or not).

No, it's based on your posts on this thread, which have been anti police.

The only reason I can think that you are bitter, is because you were arrested, and served time on remand. But you wouldn't have been arrested without good reason to suspect thatyou were guilty. And you wouldn't have been charged without evidence. And you certainly wouldn't have been held on remand without good reason (but that wouldn't be down to the police anyway).

Hmm. I made a post. You misunderstood it, but I am in the wrong???

Now you think I am a troll because I don't also hate the police (although I've never said I'm a police lover either, I just know how the police operate)??? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just great being found not guilty by a Jury after 6 months on remand or out on bail with it hanging over you. I lost a chance of a good job because I was waiting for a court case years ago. And spent a holiday weekend in a bare police cell when I was first arrested.

Whilst I appreciate that you have obviously been through a hellish experience, I'm not sure why you blame 'the police' for something that happened due to 'the system'?

Clearly an accusation was made against you. The police, and the CPS/Procurator Fiscal/relevant office for the country where you live, found sufficient cause for it to go to trial. In the period prior to trial, you were kept on remand or given bail

The case went to trial, and you were found 'not guilty'. 'The system' worked.

Unless the system is changed, to allow the public/police/CPS to decide who is guilty/not guilty, without the matter going to trial, I think that your experience will be shared by anyone who is accused of a crime, and taken to trial.

I appreciate that this is a traumatic experience for anyone who is innocent of the alleged crime. However, flawed though our system may be, I prefer it to the idea of summary justice judge Dredd style.

Also, if people have such a deep and abiding mistrust of the police, isn't the current system of trial by jury the best protection they have?

I was bailed as soon as the court opened which was on the 4th day after my arrest as it was a bank holiday weekend, so Friday night to Tuesday, then 6 months waiting for trial to be told there was no case to answer as no law had been broken, trial never proceeded.
In the meantime I was interviewed for a post which I really wanted, after acceptance for the post I was asked to submit a criminal record form including any pending prosecutions. Obviously I was truthful, the HR person read the form in front of me and said they could not employ me.
The arresting officer lied on his initial statement and his colleagues covered up for him. When arrested I had been attacked in the street by 3 drunks with no way of escape - and he said I had approached them. This was because he waited until I had dealt with 2 of them on my own before stepping in and arresting me (the 3rd one tried to run off and was caught by another policeman).

But he is one example, you are correct not all police are like him, most are very good professionally competent public servants, but the odd bad apple should be binned, end of.

I never had a jury trial, the case was found incompetent on evidence review on the day it was due to start. also I was never on remand, I was in police detention until the courts were sitting then in court detention until release on bail.

  • Without being there I wouldn't know. But then what makes you an expert? Were you standing next to them the whole time?

    My former job.:)

I wasn't stood next to them, I was in a room to the side of where this happened. The officers were not aware I was there until I opened the door and made myself known.

I can't really comment on the reasons why you were arrested - you've given your point of view; I can see alternative points of view; there may be others.

The fact that you were kept in prison so long before beign bailed is an unfortunate effect of the timing of your arrest.

i'm now confused as to how/why you were released. did a jury find you 'not guilty', or was the case dismissed before it went to court?

you don't have to answer. That's just the question running through my head.

Edited to add - you edited your post while I was posting. I don't know whether it was to correct a typo, or to include the paragraph which explains that you didn't go to a trial by jury and that you were never kept on remand.

Do you understand why your earlier posts gave a completely different inpression?
