Just to point out, as some people have asked, that parental income is taken into account until the age of 25 (unless the person can prove that they arte estranged from their parents)! At least, that was the case when my son was at Uni and he only left in June of last year.0

That's the case for HE (unless the student has supported herself for 3 years) but we're discussing Access, which is FE. The rules are different.0

            Excuse me?!
Maybe for some people that's because they have worked for 40 years so are entitled for some help when they need it! They don't need to be judged by people who WANT WANT WANT and don't actually NEED.
I know for a fact my Dad would LOVE to be in your shoes, with a job, instead of being on JSA, so stop whining and count yourself lucky!
 Honestly, some people!
Nah. Rubbish. Your dad wouldn't want to be in his shoes. Your dad's my generation. He'd probably also explain what contraceptives are for! I'd lay bets your dad would never have been in his shoes...
But good luck to dad on his job hunting. I hope he finds something.0

Be in his shoes with a job I mean, not 21 with a couple of kids, although he was once a 19yo with 1 child, worked full time, got no benefits, and didn't grumble or whinge because he couldn't do a course he wanted to Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

 Of course.
Young people these days think that people of my generation (and your dad's) never discovered sex! Big news flash. We did.
I get wanting an education, a good job, a house, a car and a life - being female I get it a darned sight more than the OP does. Because new-fangled CSA or not, I always knew who ended up holding the baby.
I just find it astonishing that a few generations on they whinge and grumble because they can't figure out what we knew back then. So much for advancing civilisation....
I still hope your dad finds something soon. I know it's hard.0

What did you know back then?0

I've got my eye on a course I'd like to do, but because my husband works I have to pay full price for the course which is around £4000. How can I find out if I can get the price reduced like you have?If not free, it would be subsidised as you have low income. Im starting one in Sep, have 4 A levels, and a NVQ3 and still dont have to pay the full fee (1800 down here!!) With my OH working!
Id look into the funding. Also, my course in only 2 full days and 2 2hr sessions, with one full day off. Maybe a different job in evenings etc would be a good idea? x0

Unlike many others you are at least taking responsibility and I admire you for that.
you need to support yourself for 3 years for funding. I don't know if that means just working or paying rent etc. I started uni at 21 and my parents income was used.0
