My credit card company have just put my credit limit up again - it's like being invited on a journey deeper into hell - what do they think they're playing at - makes me sick. Can't wait to get rid of this debt.

HSBC do this to me all the time too - whenever a decent chunk of it gets paid off they up my limit! - it's currently £8K limit I've got - and as I've just BT'd off over £3K to other cards I'm expecting them to pop the limit up to £10K any day now!

I FINALLY PAID THIS STUPID CARD OFF!!!!!!!!! YAY!!! unfortunatley tho I think Im going to have to phone them and ask if they will do a good balance transfer rate because all my other cards are on full rate so.... never mind I think we should start a new challenge..... pay off card no 2!! which was actually the first card but not the same money!? haha

Have you asked the existing card companies if they will reduce the rate? Very often they will if you pretend you are looking to balance transfer elsewhere because you are disappointed with the rate. Even if they only reduce by say 4% it will be less aggravation than moving it and you won't have the B/T fee to pay either
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Why not tell then not to increase it. Just call them and say you don't want an increased limit. I don't think they can force you to have a higher limit.

    They are sods though! :D

I'm sooo excited that it's nearly the end of the month - pay should hit my bank account at 1 minute past midnight, and my OD will be gone :j

Got it to just over £100 at the end of this pay month, and tomorrow morning I will be phoning the bank to cancel it completely! I just need the next 4 and a half hours to go quickly...

Thanks for asking peeps, did'nt find a cheap Tv, othing on freecycle...so i bought a posh one..but dh business is VAT regsitered so i found the best price online bought it through his business and have been paying him back...minus the VAT which he can claim back. Every penny counts!

But i am 'nearly' on track,i have been madly saving, selling etc etc and i will have cleared my debt on the 4th June..well all bar £60.
Not bad concidering after the VAT deduction i paid £635 for the tv:eek: But it was a huge bargain and i needed one pmsl

    Yay! :j I'm overdraft free!

I've just phoned the bank to cancel it too - so there's no way I can get tempted by it sitting there (this morning, even after transferring out money for CCs, rent etc it was telling me that my available balance was about £2K!)

The big annoyance for me has been that the majorit has come out of my wages rather than extra earned - partly cos I'm still waiting on some stuff to come in, and partly due to my laziness in listing stuff on Ebay. Anyway, I'm sooo happy to see it gone once and for all!

Anyone else managed to wipe it out this month?

Good luck for those of you continuing, I'll keep checking back to see how you're doing
