'Morning Missrlr, :hello:Hey Robin
Hope the memories were positive and the day was kindly
I think an upgrade to a reliable, cool vehicle is good for you and CD if matters F permit
I am struggling with sleep, actually lack thereof, so hoping for a nice day with a friend and not a lot more
Doglet is doing ok but back to the v.e.t. Today for a check
Well one advantage of not sleeping I am getting washing done!
Thanks for the hope; alas not entirely fulfilled. The sleep fairy missed me out as well, but I've been less productive than you.
Full Moon made it a good night to have insomnia. Potted up some strawberry runners in between watching moonlight reflecting off the trees, then came inside when it got too chilly. Washed up in order to avoid paperwork mountain, which is now spilling over into the living room.
Plan F has stalled - really need a kick up the bum there (did tell R not to hold his breath, lol).
Hope Doglet's revision is satisfactory. Our furry companions are such a worry when they can't tell us exactly what's wrong, bless 'em.
I've realised CD needs more vet attention too; she has started burying her chicken - don't think she is intending to feed the young foxes so checked her teeth. All the other Daft Dogs had a dental at age ten; CD is already a year over that (was somewhat distracted last summer). She has lots of plaque, so I think we'd better get that sorted out before leaving; reckon she's got tooth-ache, poor girl.
Must go into town [STRIKE]in a couple of hours[/STRIKE] now!** to collect DS2's new washer, so will book CD in for next week (because of her age she'll need more blood tests and a cardiac check before risking a GA, so better to have an appointment rather than block up the daily clinic).
Might call in at the car dealer's showroom too. Realised I've never gone into their front door before; been to the place a hundred times but always down the side alley for spare parts or round the back to the workshop. Neither of those departments are open at the weekend, but surely they expect folk to look for a new car on Saturdays? We shall see.
Three letters arrived from the management company of the flat.
First one said: This is not a bill, but we are doing £XX,000 work on the estate which you will have to contribute towards.
Second one was a repeat of the first, but for a different project costing £XXX,000.
Third one said: This is a bill. Further to our letter of Jan 2007 we have carried out the works detailed therein. Your share of the cost is --- £3.50 - please pay now!
..So I went onto the website, found the bill and clicked through to pay. Above the box where I was supposed to type the amount it said in large red letters: Minimum payment £5
They don't make it easy! :rotfl:
**Oops, wrote this a few hours ago n' forgot to press post; memory of a stunned brick (blame 'the change'?)!0 -

If I have to save docs, I scan them, email them to myself them I can forward that email to whoever it has to go to. That way, the document is available anywhere you can log on to your emails.
Thinking about the van, if finances are sticky, could the purchase wait until spring now that the weather is cooling down?
Thinking of you

Hi,
Did you go for browse at the dealership? See anything you fancied?
When are you planning on coming over?
And I loved the bills going from thousands to £3.50. I'd have been tempted to give them the whole fiver and leave the change on the account. Almost with a flourish of "keep the change good man"

<sigh> If only it were that simple. Printer disc is long since lost, so can't scan docs into my lappy.
 Workin' on it..Thinking about the van, if finances are sticky, could the purchase wait until spring now that the weather is cooling down?
Tbh, am becoming fed up with having to carry around loads of ballast in order to keep a decent grip on winter roads. CD being in discomfort on even short journeys, is another reason to look into the possibilities now.
Not that any progression was made yesterday; showroom was shut, as was the washing-machine shop.
Six pets were waiting to see the vet, so I didn't (arranged to book in with Nurse by 'phone).
Which made it a very quick, low-spend trip; fresh milk, bananas, honey and bread.
CD gave me a rapturous welcome, inspected the shopping then made it quite clear she'd prefer something out of the fridge ('herded' me towards it relentlessly :rotfl:).
Used a cleaver to reduce CD's chicken into bite-sized lumps, which she happily played catch for - swallowing each piece before looking for the next.
Great; would rather chop up her meat than let her encourage young foxes to hang around digging speculative holes in the garden. Yesterday spotted over half a dozen - some of which CD probably made while burying her lunch (not at all MSE!).
The best thing about a bout of insomnia, is that when sleep eventually arrives it is of good quality; curled up on the day-bed with CD guarding, I slept long enough to reach that deep, rejuvenating phase. ME people almost always have problems with this. Woke up feeling fantastic; truly awake for the first time in ages..
Hmph; noticed CD had been climbing on m' desk while I was out, and then must have curled up under the duvet - bed was rumpled and full of hairs! Feeling grateful lappy's lid was shut I forgave CD, changed the sheets and made a mental note to find some of the 'D rated' dvds to leave on when CD is home alone - to stave off boredom (eg. The Incredible Journey, 101 Dalmations [not the cartoon], Eight Below - must have more the dogs used to watch with us, among DH's Hundred Favourite Films collection?).
_pale_ Gawd; have turned into the mad dog woman on the hill.
..Summat to think about while drifting off for another siesta (which hopefully will realign internal clock to RL 'normal').
As for so many other MSEers, the sad news of Taxi's passing has been a bitter blow.
Maybe because DH was the unlucky one in ten of the one in four - if that's what the odds still are - desperately want his sacrifice to be the price for the others I know of who're going through cancer treatment to have a successful outcome.
Am so, so sorry Taxi also drew a short straw.. :A
B!oody disease.
For the record; lit the stove for the first time this autumn last Thursday evening.0 -
We all seem to be sleep deprived zombies at the moment.
I've agreed to go out for a walk with SB in a couple of hours. Keep doing that jerky, I'm awake, thing just now. We will get there:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
Hi Kissjenn, :hello:
Sorry, didn't intend to ignore you earlier; I take ages composing in between doing other tasks, just leave the draft open - so didn't see your post, then shut down lappy as soon as I'd pressed "submit". Sorry again.Did you go for browse at the dealership? See anything you fancied?
No, it was closed. But they won't have what I want, am pretty sure of that. It will be a matter of filling in an on-line form which sends a request to the [hopefully, Europe-wide] network of dealers. Then wait with crossed fingers; maybe there will be one in Barcelona, or perhaps the Netherlands (where this model is manufactured, and their forestry commission use them).
 MSE is such a great resource, perhaps it's also worth mentioning here?
If anyone is selling a left-hand-drive, 4x4 Transit which is less than five years old - please do get in touch!
(Infinitesimal odds I know, but..).
When are you planning on coming over?
Hmm. When everything comes together. Certainly be up for once-in-a-lifetime distractions if the timing works.
Visiting MIL will definitely be on the itinerary - just up the road from Edinburgh. She used to have a cottage somewhere in the Orkneys but think she gave it to her daughters..I loved the bills going from thousands to £3.50. I'd have been tempted to give them the whole fiver and leave the change on the account. Almost with a flourish of "keep the change good man"
It was very tempting. Unfortunately their computer would not understand the irony and is quite likely to do something nasty to my a/c which would be difficult and time-consuming to sort out.
Am still waiting for a letter from one member of staff that should have been sent out a year ago ('phone about this every so often; am always told she is out of the office, very busy and not to worry if her correspondence is slow).
Paid the bill via my bank instead.Keep doing that jerky, I'm awake, thing just now.
Ah. Very disorientating and not too pleasant; I get it too when over-tired. Someone told me they thought low magnesium levels make it worse, so if I can be bothered, sometimes I'll get up and find a banana. Don't know if it works; would say it helps but might just be the act of stopping trying to sleep then moving around, before settling down again iyswim?
CD is trying to get me trained up to her standards: All weekend she has only asked for chicken, leaving the portion of dry biscuits in her bowl. Today she ate the chicken, then the biscuits, and is now attempting to herd me back to the fridge again.. Guess the meals she stashed earlier have been finished, although whether she or the fox cubs ate 'em I shall never know. :rotfl:0 -

Hello Diary and Fellow Travellers, :hello:
Thanks for popping in, Missrlr and HAW.
Last night the temperature dropped sharply and then the heavens opened, so it was time to light the stove. Properly - not just a handful of kindling to take off the chill. A single olive log kept us toasty all night but we slept in far too late - it was still 27'C indoors when I threw open all the doors and windows!
Modified storm drains worked a treat - am chuffed about that, especially as 98% of the parts are recycled (removed when the patio roof was upgraded). Now to make the design permanent as opposed to being held together by the weight of half-a-dozen logs.Re printer disc almost every printer software is now available free from da web ... Might be worth a goooooogle? Sometimes on obscure sites but works for us when we lose discs etc
My bold on key word; thought of that.Roger said he'll give me a spare printer when he comes back on leave, unless DS2 can work out another solution before then. Suppose I could buy a new one but but but already have loads of spare inks for the current model and it goes against the grain to throw away a machine which is in perfect working order (when paired with DH's old laptop).
Tbh, think I'm subconsciously dragging m' feet re the whole getting voluntarily into so much debt thing, via this prospective mortgage.HeadAboveWater wrote:Hope you're keeping ok
Thanks for asking, HAW. Wish the reply could be more cheerful:
Feeling emotionally fragile today. Recently received an email from a very old mate, basically saying Eff Off out of my life you nosy bovine!
Honestly don't understand what I've done wrong. She has a pretty stressful life and isn't well off, so months ago I suggested she could have a very cheap holiday here. It transpired that she couldn't afford to renew her passport so I sent her the money, and said I'd sort out flights.
Is that so awful?
Mate hasn't replied to my query asking her to spell out her complaint, so have no idea what to do. We have been friends since teenage days..
Dear Vet wants to inspect Clever Dog's mouth and issue prophylactic antibiotics before doing the op., so we may go and sort that out this evening as it looks like there's a break in the weather.
 Car dealer should be open too.0 -

Rest assured you have done nothing wrong! My friend bought me flights to Glasgow for my 30th birthday (unbeknownst to me) and sent me the booking confirmation inside my cardI cried coz it was so thoughtful of her
:)
Apparently it's the weather for fall outs and misunderstandings, so you're not on your own:(
