    So nothing is 'damaged'?
you are disputing the diagnosis and fault rectication offered?
So the lock and motor are faulty?
So how did the 'Handles' go 'dead' in your opening post?
Given this is an ongoing problem, could this be the point where the parts in question need replacing rather than ....what did they actually do in previous years? lubricate?

    1. YES I am. It is the easiest option to fix a problem, by replacing every component in the system... but at maximum cost.

    2. This is a problem, it usually occurs when the lock jams and someone attempts to open the door, the cable stretches and then pops of the runners. I noticed they were 'duff' after it came back from another garage.. but I have no proof that they did it.

    3. Previously the engineer (different one from this case) (and this is what he told me) took the trim off and adjusted the cable and yes, put a bit of grease on the lock. It only took him about 20min. No new parts, hence why it was so cheap.

So we could be at the stage where this 'fix' has gone out of the scope of adjustment
£35 sounds likje a striaght 1/2 hour labour charge

Yup, that could be totally correct, but I believe that all the components don't need to be replaced.. just the point of failure.

i.e. I don't think the handles are the point of failure. But as it looks to me the connector has become broken, so now even though (in my eyes) it was not initially faulty, it has to be replaced.

Seems to me you've been having a 'repair' each year which has fixed the problem but only temporarily (at a cost of only £35 they weren't doing much that's for sure)
This time they can't do the same 'repair' so are opting to replace the parts, which should in theory fix the problem for good so no more yearly £35 'repairs'.
There's only so much bodging a mechanic can do before he has to replace the parts.....I'm not having a go at the mechanic here might I add.

One more thing, they are part way thru the repair,as a result some items may have been left disconnected hence not working.
Wait until the car has been fully repaired before you go off on one.If you're not happy then, that's the time to start a complaint procedure but to come on here suggesting you're going to call the police in is quite frankly preposterous !!!

:o:o I concede is was a bit ridiculous in hindsight.

And I am not contesting that 'some' parts need to be replaced.. but ALL parts? You have to remember that I was told that the interior door handle was completely broken, however it still performed one of it's two functions. The one it didn't do exhibited the exact characteristics of past failures.

Then to find that after being seen it completely didn't work, coupled with the fact that the connector look allot more broken than disconnected.Certainly raised concerns.

well you may find that Ford don't supply the connector
So the full rod assembly is required
From experience, messing with the rods can lead to poor performance later.
So a straight replacement could make more sense

So which bit of the worn mechanism is actually causing the fault?

Or is it a combination of several worn parts?

How many times do you want them to strip the door? Cable this week, A clip next week.
8 weeks later. They say you have paid us £1000 to fix a door that would only have cost £200 to replace the whole thing are you MAD???

Nothing damaged there that wont be replaced when they refit it.

I don't have time to do the job myself as I work in IT.

so you work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year..?

So let me get this right.. Car broke. Took to dealer to fix.. Parts ordered for xxxday... Car returned to customer (half built up) in mean time so they have some wheels and not to inconvenience them.. This saves customer having to pay more labor to build, undo, then rebuild door cards?

As for the broken park, well if they replaced it you'd never know any different.

It's only due to the garage saving YOU money that you have spotted this.

And you want the Police involved? LOL!!
