MrsC.. is it a frost free freezer? if so they get a build up of ice in the freezer unit and need to be turned off so the ice can melt then they are ok again!

Thank you, pigpen - it is a frost free one and I'll try that straight away.

Have found a replacement online for £259 if it doesn't work (follow-on model from the one I've got), but I'd be more than happy if I can get it going again. Any idea how long it will have to be off for?

And check out your household insurance, just in case you have freezer contents cover included, if it doesn't turn back on again.

The place is tidy, I'm fannying around with chalky finish paints again and I've got half an eye on the pot of white eggshell and the wardrobe, as I'm tired of cheap pine but too skint to get vintage oak from the antique shop. And I really need a new freezer as the seal's gone on mine, so tempted to check out Mr T to see if their supercheap one is still in stock at the shop, as it isn't online.

Mine was off a couple of days and we had a flood of water from it.

No - she hasn't asked to go anywhere PLUS her dad lives in a nearby town with a Castle and too far from all her friends.

Thanks, jojo - we do, but I don't think it's worth losing the no claims discount for. Buildings & Contents insurance is up for renewal.

I ended up not turning the freezer off just yet, as the temperature is very gradually going back down (I stuck the fridge thermometer in). However, the temperature indicator inside the freezer is definitely not right, so I'll have to keep an eye on it. Will be cooking two joints of beef, mince, chicken (x2 if I remember correctly), liver and God knows what else tomorrow. Oh joy. Looks like DH is going to have liver and bacon for tea. At least I should have a freezer to store all the cooked goodies in.

Morning all, woke up without prompting from anything or anyone at silly o'clock for a Sunday. Just had a cuppa. I have no real plans for today so shall succeed by default.

    Good morning everyone

Hugs to all who need them, especially Sammy Kaye.

So pleased to hear the news about Samuel Pigpen.

Well, I'm still struggling with tonsillitis and a fever but feeling a bit better today. SHHHH - don't tell DH, I want to get another few hours work out of him yet :rotfl:

We are having a disagreement at the moment because he is annoyed that I am ill and he needs to help out. So instead of clearing away after dinner, he started (but didn't finish) cleaning the deep fat fryer. Don't you hate it when they start jobs that don't really matter when you have people coming to stay. Last time we had people over, he cleaned the fire in the time I cleaned the whole house

House not visitor ready and we have friends coming to stay this afternoon through until Tuesday.

Plan for today - mainly DH's plan:

    Trip to Iceland
Finish deep clean on deep fat fryer
    Wipe kitchen counters
    Hoover whole of downstairs
    Mop whole of downstairs
    Make spare bed up
    Clean downstairs loo
Do something with utility (no ironing done since coming back from hols - 3 weeks worth of clothes piling up and it looks a mess)

Hopefully I'll be able to crack on with a few bit a few minutes at a time.

    See you all later!

Pigpen - it looks as though the girls enjoyed the beach -and doughnut!

Hmm, that's interesting about the frost free freezer. I didn't know that and assumed that mine had packed up. Now I'm wondering . . . Too late now but I'll remember for next time. Oh I so hope that there isn't a next time!!

It's quite misty and autumnal here this morning.

So far: bed stripped and remade. Bedding currently swishing around in the WM. Kitchen floor swept. Bathroom cleaned. Ummm - that's it so far!

Hope everyone has a good day.
