The one big thing it does not have is the ability to bring current DVD's up to a higher defintion output (for instance the samsung standalone Blu Ray machine has the facility to bring a normal dvd up to near HD clarity). This is a big point, it is highly unlikely that someone with a large DVD collection is going to be buying them all again in HD / BR, at £20+ a go. As far as I can see at present the HD dvd's are not going to be viable until they sell at close to the price of a normal dvd. Casino Royale DVD ASDA £7 Vs Casino Royale Blu Ray £20+, it simply just isn't worth the extra cash.
You don't need a PS3 to upscale DVD resolutions. I've two DVD upscalers meself - a Relysis @£40 from Ebuyer and an LG @£70 from Currys. They work great!
If I'd bought 2 PS3s I'd be shafted for the best part of 850 notes:eek:0 -
Against my better judgement, my son has decided to buy a PS3
so can I just ask if anyone knows if there is a difference between the ones with the silver trim and the all black ones.
Thanks.0 -

Definitely no expert, but I believe the all black ones have not been released in the UK yet and are the 20gb ones, whilst the silver trimmed ones are the 60gb version.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

The reason I ask is that GU are showing both and they are quoting both as 60GB

I realise that there are different bundles to choose from but was just wondering if there's any difference between the 2 consoles.0 -

I think personally it's taking the you know what, why not give everyone a special gift rather than a select few, in one particular store,
Yes lets give away a £2500 tv for every £425 console bought to celebrate the UK launch. It won't attract any ebayers at all no :rolleyes:0 -
Hey all,
Just wanted to point out what may be the best PS3 deal in the UK at the moment: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=410905
It's a little complicated, but you can get the PS3, two games, and an extra controller for £415.
