I'll have a few   on the fact that a lot of other people like me shunned the disgraceful effort made by sony on trying to take advantage of the UK's normally gullable population,by first making a big deal of anyone selling imports from the USA of Japan to Europe, then charging more and only supplying the 60gb model to them same people and leaving out a chip that makes the old games compatable, well good for all those that shown sony we WON'T stand for this anymore, except a few who just want to say they have it LOL,we will see who laughs last when we are able to buy it at least £100 cheaper than you paid, either off the idiots trying to make money on ebay, the shops trying to clear the stock room ready for the new xbox360 HD or the new wII.:beer:The figure of 165,000 in the UK alone is not from Sony and is an independant fact.(How is this a fact if it's independent?)
There weren't massive queues everywhere, because Sony asked people to pre-order in advance. (ROFL.what a load of boll**s,do you really believe that?)
The complaints that the launch has been a disaster are therefore baseless.(Far from it,people have decided to show the disapprovel with sony trying to rip every uk buyer off and not stand for the slimy tatics from sony by not bothering. The big idea of me buying one was so we could play all the games that we have been buying for the last few years on this as well as adding to the collection. If i have to start from scratch may as well make the most of the free xbox 360 prem i got from tosco's)
Compare the PS2 launch to the PS3 launch.
It took 5 months to sell 550,000 PAL (Europe) PS2s when that was launched. It took just 3 days for the PS3 to sell the same amount.
(Obviously still not as many as they expected to sell even if that figure turns out to be correct.Maybe if they had of launched on time before christmas they MAY of done a bit better)
The PS2 has sold over 100 million consoles - the PS3 package has got everything it needs to go the same way - its certainly off to a great start.
People slagged off Microsoft & Nintendo for not having enough consoles on launch day. When Sony does the right thing they still can't win the moaners over.
(If sony did things right, they too would of sold out pre release day)
But hey, what do I care.(I would if i had let sony rip me off) I've got my PS3 and can either play games (not if you have ps2 or 1 games you can't,unless you have the few that might work on it)/movies/photos/music/internet etc... on it, or watch my movies & music streaming from it over wifi to my PSP while I sit out in the garden with a cool beer.:beer:Jesus said to him, "I am the way.The truth, and the life."

Ooooh 6 posts since December and five of them have been Sony/PS3 favourable!!! Why do I feel all creepy-crawly about you!! And why do I feel I hear Sony’s none-too-good PR machine creaking into action?!!!!!
Well let’s deconstruct your post in a non-PR investigative fashion for a bit of fun shall we;)
"The figure of 165,000 in the UK alone is not from Sony and is an independant fact."
No it’s not. It’s a survey! Ring a few of Sony’s top retailers, ask how many they think they have sold and then extrapolate the total by the number of retailers – result equals sales of 165,000 – bollox!!
"There weren't massive queues everywhere, because Sony asked people to pre-order in advance."
People weren’t queuing up to buy ‘cos they weren’t gonna be conned into buying an over-priced brick. If you'd been reading the posts on here and elsewhere the signs were obvious:p
"The complaints that the launch has been a disaster are therefore baseless."
No they’re not and I ain't complaining! It will be the retailers and early adopters that will be doing that!:p

Great PR positioning. But to achieve the same sales levels you will need everyone to replace their PS2s with PS3s or find a whole host of new users - and it ain’t gonna happen:p
"People slagged off Microsoft & Nintendo for not having enough consoles on launch day. When Sony does the right thing they still can't win the moaners over."
They didn’t have enough ‘cos the demand was there. Sony has got more than enough in stores!
But hey, what do I care. I've got my PS3 and can either play games/movies/photos/music/internet etc... on it, or watch my movies & music streaming from it over wifi to my PSP while I sit out in the garden with a cool beer.
Well, of course you can ‘cos I bet you got a free one from Sony!!!!:p0 -
please grow up0

Not exactly.
The quality of the Blu Ray player on the PS3 won't be as good as a quality standalone Blur Ray Player.
The quality of which (standalone) is not great either from the various reviews I have seen.:rotfl:
Bitamax, minidiscs, memory sticks, UMD movies, ATRAC and now blue-ray amongst other proprietary sony products that are doomed to fail!!!
Some people just never learn....................:pDo I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -

Personally I was surprised how good the PS3's Blu-Ray is as I expected it to be nobbled, but it's not.
The quality of PS3's HD Blu-Ray movie playback is identical to the standalone players supporting up to 1080p video and 7.1 channel LPCM audio over HDMI.
