Hope you all had a lovely Xmas. We had a fab few days with FOG's and wandering clouds. All good and feeling very blessed. I need to focus on figures for next year but fear the Pina Coladas have addled my few remaining grey cells. I much prefer a goal to aim for and will need to set a flag in the sand. A bit more time on the mortgage calculator but will try not to get too carried away as we also have a few more jobs to do in the house. New kitchen is a 2013 job please and thank you. Off to work later so will have a few thinks.0

New line drawn in sand. This will include: to pay down mortgage by £13688 this year; have a new kitchen re-build the porch and re-align the garden path. Its a stretch but that's what goals are for.
2013 has had a very sad start and can only get better thus my uncharacteristic silence over the last few weeks. I'm trying to get back to "normal" but I've never been sure what that is. It feels as though I have been holding my breath for the last couple of weeks. As I said when I started these ramblings, one step at a time.0 -
Hi Numpty, sorry to hear you've not had such a good start to the year.
Take your time and pace yourself if you're not in the right mind set, no point in putting pressure on yourself if there's no need xxMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
I agree. Just take it easy and we look forward to seeing you back here when you're ready xx0

:eek:So much for the new year plan. My car has monumentally failed her MOT and has less than gracefully retired.:( Bless her. So once again the kitchen will have to be put on the back burner, so to speak. I had a tough start to the year losing someone very special suddenly and now my car that has been with me through some tough times has gone. Hormones are rampaging as well so all-in-all not having very much fun. I really didn't want to spend money on a car right now. Huff, huff, huff. Once the decision is made though I will be fine and trying to find ways to claw back the kitchen money. Game on.0

A quick update on the statement as its the end of the month. All heading in the right direction. Even back to pre-xmas weight.
Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. I can say that over and over but does it all have to be so hard? New porch really means new porch and new bay window! Oh and in that case what about a new front door :eek::eek: In this house 1 job always becomes 5 jobs so I should actually celebrate that this is only 3 jobs :T All that said, it will look lovely when its done, roll on the end of March.0 -
New window in, porch nearly finished. Just wish it would warm up. Finally started doing something about my fitness. I started yoga by accident. It was a right place, right time situation and I've being doing a little bit nearly every day since the beginning of March. Warmer weather would be good but can't have everything at once.0

Oh blessed is the sunshine :j
Porch and window installed. Porch created its own list of jobs but thankfully so small all decorating nearly finished, just the grouting to finish for the floor tiles that I laid myself. Saved a packet not paying for someone else to do a job that I actually like doing
Just had a fab 2 days with the wandering clouds and am happy to report that yoga is still part of my routine and my strength is coming on slowly. I even tried Bikram yoga this week. Always up for a new experience. The heat is fine all the time you are lying down! The minute you start to move you have to accept that you will be the colour of a beetroot for an hour and a half. I will do it again but am not a complete convert. Happy to Hatha:j:)

Have made a milestone payment this month. We are happily under the £120k mark. I like the look of the mortgage being in the next 10k under bracket.
Still practicing Yoga and have hovered up and down a pound on the weight. I have hit a plateau but am fine with it as I am more active than I have been for a couple of years. Feeling far more at peace with myself and the world. The kitchen is still a dream, mostly because I can't make up my mind on a final design. I had decided but with the delays from earlier this year, now I'm not so sure.
I've also upped the overpayment this month by an extra £43 to round up the payment and hopefully that will make the target for the end of year more achievable. I was a bit lazy and should have done it at the beginning of the year and it would have been a dead cert but now I might be £500 short. Well that goes to prove that I am definitely better off as a monthly budgeter. (If that is even a real word)
Had my first 2 raspberries from the garden this week. All in all, a good start to the month.0 -
