Today I have to pick up my glasses, already paid for and need to buy a few bits which I think I'll get from Sainsbobs using a voucher and points. Hopefully will only need to spend £1 again in actual cash.
During December we have saved £500.17 which has amazed me. If I can do this during Dec, I should be able to meet our target of £5000 that I've set in the challenge for next year. I've also set a challenge to walk 5 miles a day - that may be less easy to achieve.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Happy New Year diary.
Have so far walked 19.5 miles so that challenge is a difficult one. Savings have not really kicked off for the month yet either as pay day is 10 days away.
I returned one pair of my glasses yesterday. They'd given me the wrong prescription when I didn't need new ones anyway. Wondered why I'd had a headache for 3 days. Refund will be used for food till payday.
Stocked up yesterday Brexit style on cleaning products and dog food for the next year. Used various offers, should have been £90, came in at £71.
I've put Bulb code on the referrers thread as anyone who signs up on my code between now and Wednesday gets £100 and so do I, but someone else if offering an additional £30 so I don't think I'll get any takers.
Today should be a NSD for me, can't speak for DH as I know he needs petrol.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Someone did use my referrers code so £100 should be hitting my electricity account at the end of the month. Walking challenge still not progressing as well as I'd like, and savings slow despite payday as we have overspent a bit already this month including a new wedding ring for me.
DH is currently ill in bed, day 2, which means both days have been NSDs. Every cloud and all that.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Sounding good Jazee

DH is still unwell which is really unlike him so a third day in bed beckons for him. I've still got HM soup from yesterday in the fridge, and am slow cooking a whole chicken at the moment. Maybe he'll be up to eating later.
So, still no spends and no drinking of alcohol either.
Today I have given myself a pedicure which saves £25 I normally spend on a professional job. I'm trying to save what I can on normal spends as I am designing a table for my sewing machine which will be specially made and I'm not sure how much it will be yet. The final design came to me in a dream last night.

Well, last day of the month and we've managed to save £681.99 this month, helped in no small part by loan repayment from DD and no council tax to pay. And I've sorted out some more higher rate paying accounts so the money is spread as well as it can be.
DH is now better although I've been feeling a bit rough for a couple of days. Have been ploughing on though.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Wow Jazee, those savings totals for December and January are truly impressive.
Good luck with the walking challenge. This time of year it's a bit hard to motivate onseself to get out and out, and it's quite a big factor in my decision not to worry if I don't find another dog quite as quickly as I normally do. It's hard to want to even walk one mile a day when it's rainy, a gale blowing directly in your face while trudging along, freezing cold and grey overcast skies. When it perks up a bit, later on, that'll be a much greater motivator as far as I'm concerned.Better is good enough.0 -
Yes HB I agree about the walking, lucky to manage more than 15 minutes out in the cold.Spend less now, work less later.0
