Well it is December and the spending has continued and I've been dipping into savings. And do you know, I learnt today that life can be short and cruel and money worries can eat away and cause absolute destruction, so for now I'm not going to worry about my overspends.

We still have savings, and we will have a lovely Xmas with our children and their partners on various days and be very thankful for what we have got, mainly each other.

After a week of feeling very definitely under the weather, I have woken after 11 hours (!) sleep feeling so much better. Still a painful chest but I'm sure that will ease.

I'm looking forward to a better week than last week which should be possible because things don't get much worse than last week and to spending time with the family at Christmas.

Xmas hols from work though are cancelled as there is a re-org due to go live in New Year, only announced this week, so lots to do, but never mind, DH is working anyway and I'll take my holiday in the spring.

Today I have spent £7.20 online of replacement toothbrush heads (essential) but don't think I'll be spending anything else.

A day of dog walking, gardening, ironing and present wrapping is planned.

Pay day on Monday which has to last forever, and I've a humungous bill to pay this month. Such is life.

I hope anyone reading has a great day.

I've just done my finances to the end of Jan because pay day is tomorrow and I've written a cheque ready to pay humungous bill. There is no leeway to add to savings but we will be able to keep our minimum in the bank and will just have to stick to budgets for the month, so I'm happy with that.

Hello diary. Well its that time of year again to take stock and sign up to challenges for next year, so I've just signed up to the completely crazy clothes challenge for 2015 with a budget of £360 as last years £120 was just unrealistic.

Budgets till the end of Jan are going to plan, and I'm going to use some of our 'entertainment' budget to buy tickets to a couple of shows coming up in the next few months so we have something to look forward to on these cold winter days.

So to today and what have I done so far which is MSE...mmmm....I have used some out of date nuts and bits to make some food balls for the birds, I have sent a homemade anniversary card to a friend instead of buying one and sent it second class, and later dinner will be sausage plait using YS sausage meat.

As is usual on New Year's Eve I have been thinking about the year gone by and I have to say it has mostly been positive. We cleared the debt which had been hanging over our heads since 1997 and sooner than planned, and although we now have new debt from buying the car, it is manageable and I'm hoping to clear that in half the expected time. So that maybe this time next year, I can say we are debt free again.

Also this year, we have had some lovely evenings out and quite possibly our best holiday ever. I have also tried out a new job for 3 months and loved it but wait to see what type of employment the new year will bring.

And looking forward to next year, now that the inquest is over DS and his fiancee will start to plan their wedding, and DD is now also happily settled with her BF. We have our holiday (paid for already) to look forward to and some nights out in the spring too all sorted out.

What I wish for the new year is that DH is free of pain soon. Anything else will be a bonus.

Happy New Year to anyone who reads this stuff!

Well 2015 didn't quite get off to the start I had hoped for. Went to bed at ten as DH had a 4.30 start today, slept through midnight and a few minutes later woke to a loud firework and LittleyDog frantically barking. Got up to find landing and the room LittleyDog sleeps in full of smoke. Just the most scary thing to happen. Turns out to be smoke from the fireworks coming in through the vents, cleared quite quickly fortunately.

Anyway I am now beginning prep for our family Christmas Dinner today as we didn't get together for it last week. Mostly YS stuff too including the turkey. And in other MSE news, I've asked DH to stock up on washing powder at the Coop today as they've got an offer starting today which makes it even cheaper than h0me bargains.

DH forgot the coop bargains so today has been a NSD. Christmas dinner was lovely and the family are currently relaxing together watching a film.

I've decided I'd like to get rid of one item a day from the house that is cluttering up my cupboards of doom. A bit of a head start today, four items - 3 flowering arranging bits past their best and an offcut of lino - have found their way to the bin.

Tomorrow won't be a NSD as I'm going to get my hair cut and have lunch out with DD.

Stuff decluttered today: ancient bottle of baby oil, old tablecloth and two manky mascaras. And now a cuddly toy which fell apart when I put it in washing machine.

    Spends today:
    Parking £5
Haircut £10 (dry cut, very MSE)
    Lunch with DD £15
Two vases from charity shop £2

    Total - £32

Quite an MSE style day today. NSD so far but am treating DD and her BF to meal out later. I have made a frame for my plot in the garden using an old canvas picture frame and struts from DD's old bed. And I am currently halfway through making new cushion covers using some old fabric.

    Decluttered today:
    Old curtain pole
    One tie back
    Broken Halloween skeleton

Spoke too soon about this being an MSE day. The pub I was going to take DD etc to for lunch was closed for an event so we had to go elsewhere, cost 3 times as much, was very nice, but only found out at the end that they don't take cards. We just managed to scrape the cash together between us.

    More decluttering:
One manky cushion cover as I've made the first new one
Roll of proper selotape - got fed up with it splitting
    Footpump - gone to DD
