The order came within 24 hours which is really quite impressive, free delivery too.
Yesterday, I managed to squirrel away £15 to savings as I need to re-establish that pot having spent out big time on my new greenhouse.
Today I have found out that my job may be outsourced so probably time to pull in the purse strings even tighter, just in case. It's a good job we are now debt free and could probably manage on one wage if we have to.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I am not a happy bunny this morning. The reality of yesterday's news is sinking in. I looked at budgets and we can manage on one wage if necessary but there would be no going out and I'd need to cut back on the shopping bill a little to enable us to have a buffer.
Will spend today getting in touch with contacts and seeing what other options are out there but must just pull in the purse strings now and save what I can just in case.
So plans that we had are now on hold till we know whats happening. Hopefully today will be a NSD apart from DHs lunch.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I've had time to reflect today and think that we should go ahead with some of our plans while we have the money to do it. So I have an item from arg0s that is due to be paid in January. I will pay that when I get paid next. I also think that we should go ahead and book our holiday while we can and pay it in full. It will give us something to look forward to for next year and the actual holiday itself will be almost spend free as its close enough to take all our food with us and will consist of just dog walking.
New car: probably go ahead so we have something reliable going forward, can always pay the balance with redundancy should the worst happen.
Need to discuss with DH.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
So I had the discussion with DH and its a yes to paying off Arg0s next pay day and a yes to booking and paying for the holiday in full in September but its an absolute no-no for the new car.
Managed to squirrel away £40 to savings today due to underspends in the grocery and entertainment budget in the last week.
Off out tonight with free tickets to the cinema, but will splurge on a rare takeaway afterwards.
No jobs to apply for today. Must remember to contact union at some point.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
No splurge on a takeaway last night as DH insisted we got popcorn at the cinema so was full of that instead, but I know what I would have preferred the money to go on. Never mind, next time I will put my foot down.
Apparently if the worst comes to the worst at work I have to have a 3 month consultation period so some breathing space to get savings behind us and DH has said we'll buy a cheaper car if we absolutely have to buy another one. In the meantime, we carry on as we are.
I shouldn't need to spend too much this weekend, just some picnic stuff (for prom tomorrow night) and fruit. I'm planning another week of mostly eating out of the freezer.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
My meal plan for the week is food entirely from the freezer except for snacks (fresh fruit which I bought last night £5.29). We didn't go out last night so we had our picnic I'd prepared at home. DH looked shattered when he got in from the paid stuff and going out would have meant another 2 hours driving and it looked as though it might rain too (although it didn't!).Spend less now, work less later.0

I've been quite good this week. Minimum spends. I've now got DD's birthday pressies and one item was reduced from £33 to £20. I've bought bread this week £2.80 and treated myself to a doughnut 60p and that's about it so far. I'll need to go out for more bread tomorrow though.
I have plans with most of the family for the weekend. We have a plan for each day, which includes a packed lunch/picnic each day and dinner at home in the evenings. Spends will only be for petrol and parking as we are using yearly passes for museums or going to free locations only.
Bring it on, this week has seemed a very long one at the paid stuff.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Just managed to squirrel another £30 to savings due to under spends on budgets this week. Staying in and having NSDs does seem to work!Spend less now, work less later.0

Actual spends today:
£1.40 - bread
£5 - window cleaner
If there are crisps in the house I have to eat them. Must ban DH from buying them.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I've a busy weekend planned with both kids staying over and DDs boyfriend. So I popped to the local shop last night for things needed for picnics and meals over the weekend, possibly spending a bit more than I would have done at the butcher and farm but I suppose you pay extra for the convenience of them being open at night.
This morning the sun is shining so once I get my brain in gear, I'll get out with the dogs.Spend less now, work less later.0
