I have had a busy few days, lovely time seeing all the family, some staying with us, lots of going out and having just checked the budget now that they are gone, we have not overspent.
Other MSE news:
another £25 win on the lottery
£20 voucher for local pub won in pub quiz
Phone bill slightly less than anticipated
Spends for the weekend:
Rare big shop planned at home bargains
May need some money for night out tomorrow, although tickets say includes drinks and food.
Need to get wheel repaired for my bike, not budgeted so may require some juggling for that.
Two more days off the paid stuff. Luvverly.....Spend less now, work less later.0 -

And only 10 days now to debt free date. Bring it on....Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Budgets still about ok. Didn't get offered enough for gold at event yesterday so will send it off in post. Got £100 for swapping bank accounts.

Morning diary. Only 2 days to debt free day.....yay....The weather put paid to any plans to go far today so I've put the morning to good use by sorting out new budgets for after debt free day and switching the second of our current accounts.
I have £70 left in our 'entertainment budget' and £108 left in our grocery budget till payday in 11 days time, so all good there.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning diary, celebrations here today as finally after 17 years and 3 months we are DEBT FREE.
When I started this diary it was to bring forward our debt free date so we could start saving for a mortgage deposit and to help me focus. Our priorities have now changed. Having brought the date forward, we now plan to just save and then decide whether to use the money for a mortgage or stay in our secure rented accommodation but be comfortable in our old age.
Our debt went on for so long due to bad decisions and hiccups along the way. I first came to this site in the early days for ways to save money on things I was going to buy anyway, but our lightbulb moment came in 2007 and this is when we even moved to another part of the country to change our lifestyle and spending habits.
There have been further hiccups since then and I expect that there are hiccups to come, but here we are, debt free and with some savings and shares.
Thanks to everyone who gives support on these forums. You really are a great bunch.
I now have to decide whether to keep this diary or not. I may do just to help me stay focussed so those savings build more quickly.
However, we are treating ourselves to a celebratory meal out tonight.
I hope anyone reading has a great day too.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

I have decided to keep this diary going to keep me focussed. So here is a summary of the last three debt free days so far:
Tues: spent £25 on dog grooming (need) and went nearly £2 over on our celebratory dinner budget (wanted but I think deserved).
Weds: a day at the seaside for fish and chips and bought some things from the garden (wants).
Today: nothing spent so far
Other MSE news:
DH is cancelling his mobile phone contract and moving to P&G to see if that is cheaper.
I just got nearly £70 for my old gold in to pay pal account.
I have seen the greenhouse that I want for the garden and now know that I need to save around £1500 for it. OMG!
I hope anyone reading is having a great day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
