A busy week at the paid stuff is now over thank goodness and I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend with friends. I will try not to spend too much. In fact I can't anyway as if I do, I will be edging into the free overdraft just a few days before pay day, because I don't want to touch the savings which are earning interest.

I haven't spent much on a day to day basis this week. We have been eating out of the freezer, but I have made a couple of big purchases for the home. I suppose if I am really critical of myself, what I bought are wants not needs, BUT they will make me feel happier and improve the home.

I made the right decision with one of my purchases for the home, the room is transformed. The other hasn't arrived yet.

Had a great weekend with friends. I did spend a little more than I intended as as I didn't want to see a minus sign in the bank, I transferred some savings just now to cover it.

I need to be really good now until pay day at the end of the week.

At last payday is here. I had to do some juggling due to overspends last month so savings are temporarily about £200 less than I'd like them to be but I'm hoping to mostly putting that right during the month by squirrelling away what I can, and hopefully not spending everything I've budgetted for.

This is going to be another expensive month, with holiday from the paid stuff, visitors, large bill to pay and dentist for both me and DH but I'm hoping I've overestimated and everything will be fine.

Especially as we are on the countdown now to debt free day, as the last payments comes out of this months salaries.

    Wish me luck and determination!

I made an error with my planning and totally forgot car insurance and dog grooming this month. After yet more juggling, but not touching savings further, I'm left with a figure of -£30 which I'm hoping to restore by putting in my meagre expenses claim.

This MSE lark isn't easy, is it?!!

So a couple of days where I've continued to ensure we keep to budget. Yesterday I didn't have to get money out of account to buy bread as I raid our jar instead, and felt quite pleased, until the request at the paid stuff for a donation for a leaving present.

We went out last night, very cheap and enjoyable evening and I won a raffle prize which I'm really pleased with.

Today I will be weeding the garden.

A good start to the day:

    No headache
    £25 win on lottery
Remembered my old gold to sell in my purse
Day 2 of my hols from the paid stuff
    Company of DD today

Am I the only one who doesn't know the results of the England match during the night?

I have had a nice shopping trip out on my own without actually spending any real money. I changed a pair of shoes for DH and using my M&S gift card I got myself a summer weight dressing gown and a new bra. Oh and some treats to make an afternoon tea for visitors later in the week. Even got a discount on the nightwear when I got to the till.

And I had 2 hours just on my own but away from the house. Real 'me' time. Driving alone, shopping alone, no phone distractions allowed, it was lovely.

Will have to spend some money today though, have run out of cheese, bread and eggs.

Morning diary. We ended up going for a meal instead of DH takeout treat from DD so we added some money to DD's contribution to pay for it, really nice evening and its come out of the holiday/entertainment budget.

Today I need to continue gardening, hoover through the house, bake a cake and become a good flylady again.

I didn't quite make it to being a good flylady yesterday although I did finish all the tasks I set myself. Had a lovely day.

Today is day 4 off from the paid stuff and I will be spending time with visiting family so will no doubt spend something.

Had a lovely day out yesterday and DH and I both found things to spend money on, but when I was doing the calculations this morning, not quite as much as I'd feared, so that is good!

Another day out today, and my turn to buy lunch.
