So bought my shopping for the week and spent £45.50 really chuffed with myself as didnt have much in to start with will see how it goes going to be doing alot of cooking on sunday with my large half price MrT chicken and 2x 800g packs of mince so £8.37 of meat should make 28 meals/7 family meals possibly more went to Aldi and got my bread(gone in the freezer),milk, fruit and veg- 3pk peppers 69p x2 to bulk up spag bol, chilli,curry savoury mince along with mushrooms and onions I seem to put these 3 in nearly everything I make, also 2.5 kg of baking pots for 69p but we dont eat baked pots v often so will just use them as normal pots also bought kitten food, hay, sawdust, batteries all in the budget. I cant believe just how much doing this challenge makes you think about what you put in your trolley. I am also boring everyone to death telling them about all the money saving advice I have found even my hubbys mate called round and i was telling him he passed me the phone and told me to ring someone who gives a s***! how rude :rotfl:January Grocery Challenge £203.50/£200

I think i need to rejoin, been doing fine for the last few months but after discovering im pregnant the budgets gone completely last month!
Im suffering with sickness, but lucky not hypermesis this pregnancy, and DH has been in charge of meals when ive not been able to stand the smell of the kitchen! Unfortunatly we have wasted so much food and cravings and sickness have led us away from my meal plans!
Luckly seen as we were far off our meal plan last month, we still have loads of food in the freezer for this month, so im hoping to save some money out of my 140 budget for christmas, seen as we ate £50 of xmas savings in August!0 -
So, I went and did my first shop of the month. I made a list and pretty much stuck to it. I hadn't priced it up before I went and so was a little surprised when it came to £31.86!. I had expected about £20. No problem though, with my plan to go on a daily rate, that means I need to avoid the SM until next Saturday/Sunday. That should be doable as I have made a meal plan. Will have to get bananas & soft cheese only!
On tonight's plan, the DDs have spaghetti & prawns & DH & I are having YS Finest fish cakes with veg & mash.2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

Hi all
DH has been paid (he gets paid 4-weekly), I cleared the credit card balance with money I had in the daily accounts (PHEW!) and this weekend is a NSW/end for us, so I would have made the target of £450 by 29th August, or might have been out by very little if I had had a food emergency buy.
Instead of waiting for 29th August I might start posting here now as I have completed all the August spends relating to bank bills etc. and it feels like a clean break. For records purpose I shall officially start the GC on 28th August, to go until 27th September.
My GC this month, including an allowance of £100 for extra grocery spend while on holiday, is going to be again £450Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
