Please can I join?? I am completely sick of getting to the middle of the month and having no money left, having to raid the house for things to sell on ebay or worse as we did last month the kids savings accounts, just so we can eat.
Bit of background family of 4, 1 dog, 2 cats. We are on a DMP, have just moved into rented house and renting our mortgaged house out.
Having had a quick look back through our bank account for last month I cant see where we go crazy spending but think we can cut back on the money I spend on food.
This is going to be a hard month as we are away next week on holiday just in parent in laws caravan but will spend on treats and maybe a meal out. Also we have all 3 pets at the vets tomorrow, which I dread to think about! So maybe not the best month to start but anyway I am really going to try.
Budget is going to be £240 a month, £60 a week, is that do able?? I discovered Al*i last week and am going to try and do as much shopping there as I can. I am off to get the Mirror after work today also.
I have also just uploaded an app for my phone to record everything!
Wish me luck!!0 -
I'm back in again after a pathetic August when my spending and the tracking of it went to pot due to being on school holidays (teacher) and going away on holiday for a week and then visiting family.
September will be a 4 week shopping month for me and so I've decided to go for £120 for the month. That's for me and a small greedy dog and will include all food and drinks, dog stuff, cleaning and laundry, toiletries and household bits and pieces. I take a packed lunch to work and usually have a cereal bar for breakfast so I guess pretty much all meals are covered by this amount.
Will try to be as frugal as I can with next week's shop and then start this challenge from the weekend after (Sept 1st).
Big thanks to everyone that contributes and those that organise us all:beer:0 -

Hi, I've fallen by the wayside over the last couple of months, but I'm back in the saddle and would be grateful if you could put me down for £200 total for the month of September, that's me, OH, 3 kids, a cat & a dog.......£50/week. _pale_
I've trawled through my inspirational new cookery books from the library (amazing, I haven't yet given in to temptation and bought one :rotfl:) and have tried & tested a few frugal recipes with plenty more on a list to try. So fingers crossed. Just pass me that chicken carcass and I'll rustle up a meal for 5... I hope! Yikes. Times are hard; it HAS to be done.No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries May 2025
