I may not agree with you decision, but I respect your right to make it.

Unfortunately, about 60% of victims fall for this impersonation of authority scam, like you. However, many, including us, are working to reduce this.

Only councils, the police, train operators and Transport for London can impose legally enforceable fines or penalties. A private company or individual can't. In law, they’re called speculative invoices.

All the car park owner (CPO) can claim from a driver in damages for any alleged breach of any alleged contract is what they’ve lost as a result. If it’s in a free car park or the driver paid, this is £0.00. Demanding more has been judged to be unreasonable and therefore an unfair contract penalty under the terms of The Unfair Contract Terms Act 1997, which is not legally enforceable. See Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Co. Ltd. vs. New Garage & Motor Co. Ltd., House of Lords, 1914 and countless cases since.

For the record, who was the PPC concerned?

Unfortunately, it may not be the end of the matter. We regularly hear of cases, where victims have paid the lower amount demanded, but their payments mysteriously don't arrive until just after the deadline and the PPC comes back demanding more money.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

The statistics are in a UK GOV report available online, I think 70% pay up.

Surely I'm not the only one on MSE to have paid? Come on, be brave, own up.

if youve paid up, and you feel the price is worth paying for something that you shouldnt have had to pay, then fair enough.

As for myself i like to be a bit more careful with my money, and only spend it on things that require it, for a large proportion of people in the UK cash flow is a little limited especially with the current financial climate, and as a result people are looking out for all sorts of money saving methods, weather that be saving a few quid a month on a contract ( ie phoone/satelite tv etc) or avoiding excessive un enforcable parking charges levied by companys/people who have no right to do so.

One more thing, if your happy spending money, then so be it. maybe you could set up a website called money wasting experts dot com
If your so happy to splash the cash, can i have £45? i will give you a discount and only ask for £30 if you pay me within the next 7 days.

If anyone less gullible would like not to receive threats from bailiffs or red letters AND save themself £45, try the following:

-Send the 'invoice' back to the PPC in an addressed but not stamped envelope marked 'payment enclosed'. The PPC will be charged by Royal Mail to receive it.

-In the same envelope, enclose a letter headed 'WITHOUT PREJUDICE, SAVE FOR COSTS' stating that you deny any debt to their company and that they are not to contact you again or they will be reported for harassment. Don't sign the letter.

-Resist the urge to also enclose a sachet of KY-jelly and further instructions. The same goes for that old lead slate that's in your garage. You don't want them to take it personally, just get the message.

Repeat for any further communications if they don't stop.

I out of the blue today received a Parking Enforcement Notice and a £90 charge (£45 if paid within 7 days).

After the initial shock because it referred to a date three weeks previously I remembered where it had occurred. I had parked on the Coop Supermarket car park at Whitby. I knew there was a time limit attached to using this car park and remembered I had exceeded this. I could have parked on the pay and display car park across the road but wanted to park charge free as I had done on other occasions.

So I realised I had infringed the rules of parking there for free and so I have stumped up the £45, now the matter is closed, no red demands or threats of bailiffs etc. I was wrong and have paid.

Fair dos as far as I'm concerned.

Well good for you!! An honest person albeit somewhat gullible/ naive? You knew where to post this and you probably knew the experts opinions/ advice already re this subject?

So I wonder at your motives!!! and also the truth in your posting?

But since you appear to be serious about this "LOL" and have a limitless supply of cash to squander.

Can you immediatelly send me £45, as i saw you parked outside my door, on private land, but I will be kind and reduce it to £30 if received within seven days.
Better bargain as the "original" totally unenforcable spam you received?

The Co-op, huh? Thx for the tip-off, I've been collecting photos of PPC signs to send to the landowners with an explanation of the potential consequences for them. I never thought to try the Co-op, I shall add it to the list. I'll bet an organisation which likes to portray itself as fair and equitable will be horrified when it is told about the kind of things that are being done in its name.

    Cheers!

Well there is one born every minute, if this is true at all
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
