The town in Essex where I used to live had the barrier system in both the town centre Tesco and Sainsbury's car-parks. I have since learned that both supermarkets have now taken the PPC shilling and now have these parasites patrolling their car-parks.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

I'd agree that a ticketed system with barrier is the only fair answer. There have even been a few incidents of people being ticketed where their partners have left the car park even though they've been shopping legitimately - another example of the PPC bully boys overstepping the mark. I don't think the answer is to ignore PPC letters, take them to your local store using the PPC and complain bitterly. Public opinion is a powerfully motivating force thankfully, as the recent workfare protests against supermarkets proved.0

How do people expect supermarkets to control their car parks if unscrupulous people who are just looking for free parking are clogging them up? The co-op at Whitby has a ticketed barrier scheme where it is free if you get your ticket stamped at the till which seems fair enough to me. There are times when the barrier isn't manned so that's when the PPC are used to control it. Otherwise it's just the same as me deciding to park in the drive of your house.A problem shared is a problem multiplied.0

Have you had the letter from Hong Kong yet, telling you you've inherited $10.5million from a long-lost relative? I'm sure you'll be proud to pay the £10,000 administration fee to get the funds released ...
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

You still here?
Can't believe someone on MONEYSAVINGEXPERT (CLUE IS IN THE NAME OF THE SITE!) would post proudly 'I fell for a scam and paid it'! Unless you are connected to PPC World of course, 'Nobby'.
What do you think about PPCs having to pay £27 a pop for a useless appeals system that does them no favours at all?! :rotfl:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Simple answer in 95% of car parks is that they are hardly half full at any time, I use a lot of supermarket car parks on my travels and hardly see any that need controlling, let alone scammers fleecing legitimate shoppers. You've got to realise the people abusing car parks know its a scam and will ignore these vermin.
The ones who who fall for this I'm sorry to say are mugs like you who overstay a little whilst shopping, or who are disabled and no extra consideration is given which by the way is against the law. You want to pay that is up to you, but you have fallen for this scam, they use a very British trait against you, that of being upfront and honesty. We on here advice people correctly to ignore scammers that harass people going shopping.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Or even use the first in last out photos to try and get money out of people who have done nothing wrong !0

Can I just say to everyone seeking some kind of moral high ground on where people should & shouldn't park;
If it wasn't for the fact that councils have lead a campaign of purposefully removing completely legitimate parking spaces so they (and PPC lobbyists) can overcharge for parking and make further money through fines (enforceable or otherwise); then the supermarkets wouldn't now be facing the problem of people abusing their parking facilities.
Thanks to councils and supermarkets, every high street in the country is now exactly the same depressing mess of contract phone shops, banks and chavs.
We pay enough council, road & fuel tax and have had enough. If sections of government aren't prepared to fairly provide services that have been paid for; the system wouldn't get abused.
Next time I need to visit town for an extended period of time it will be courtesy of Parking Eye who will have another batch of their letters used to line my cats litter tray.0
