-Send the 'invoice' back to the PPC in an addressed but not stamped envelope marked 'payment enclosed'. The PPC will be charged by Royal Mail to receive it.

-Resist the urge to also enclose a sachet of KY-jelly and further instructions.

tobster consider it done next letter received will be posted on here then mailed back:T to ppc.
ky jelly, we have bucket loads here if you change you mind and want some to post to ppc i could mail you some, with a stamp on obvis. but i think a deep heat bum bomb (suppository) with a one fingered glove would be more appropriate. They will be feeling the heat then from us tax paying public that are becoming aware :rotfl:
liar liar knickers on fire
The word about the scammers is spreading like marmite here in the westcountry.
We workers all love it and the ppc hate it :rotfl:

The statistics are in a UK GOV report available online, I think 70% pay up.

Surely I'm not the only one on MSE to have paid? Come on, be brave, own up.

:mad:I got a fine yesterday for staying over two hours in ASDA in Fleetwood (legitimately shopping) and I paid the lower amount. On reflection after subsequenlty reading into it and reading all the advice I shouldn't have done so. However, the company charging looked so legitimate and referenced the DVLA and appeals process etc that it was convincing. They were called TCP Town and City Parking.

I feel cheated and a twit, but I'm not alone. But ASDA will lose out as I will never shop there agan and letters will be going to the ASDA manager and the CEO.

I don't suppose I can recuperate the money now.

We live and learn!

If you can cancel the cheque or badger the CC company hard enough then yes you might be able to stop payment but otherwise, just chalk it up to experience and learn. Also share what you now know about the scam with as many people as you can - the more people who know the better. :)

Some lessons cannot be taught, they can only be learned.

2 hours is not an unreasonable time. Some allow 3 hours, but others allow 1½ hours or just 1 hour. Why did you take longer?

I wouldn't actually switch to another supermarket, if it's going to cost you more in the long run. I'd keep shopping with ASDA, and don't pay the next "invoice". Also, tell people about this scam.

I wouldn't tell ASDA’s CEO (andy.clarke@asda.co.uk) that you won't really be shopping elsewhere. His agent, TCP, routinely misleads his customers about what they're going to do.

Don't bother with the store manager. Speak to the organ grinder, not the monkey.

How did you pay? If you work fast, you might get lucky.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

The Co-op, huh? Thx for the tip-off, I've been collecting photos of PPC signs to send to the landowners with an explanation of the potential consequences for them. I never thought to try the Co-op, I shall add it to the list. I'll bet an organisation which likes to portray itself as fair and equitable will be horrified when it is told about the kind of things that are being done in its name.

Cheers!

They know what's being done in their name, they know the paperwork is intimidating but they insist on using the sledgehammer to crack the nut. Trouble is .... the sledgehammer missed; the parking situation is worse than it was before!

How do people expect supermarkets to control their car parks if unscrupulous people who are just looking for free parking are clogging them up? The co-op at Whitby has a ticketed barrier scheme where it is free if you get your ticket stamped at the till which seems fair enough to me. There are times when the barrier isn't manned so that's when the PPC are used to control it. Otherwise it's just the same as me deciding to park in the drive of your house.

Sorry, Nobby, but the nice guys in the gate-house have been sacked and the PPC is now the only show(er) in town - ALL THE TIME 24/365.

Check out "Civil Enforcement Ltd & Co-op car park, Whitby", complain to CEL you were panicked into paying and complain to DVLA, British Parking association that the clutter of signs at the entrance, the tight turn and pedestrians crossing from the council car park to your left on entry, plus the raised entry barrier and redundant ticket machine must have drawn your attention from the smaller CEL sign with small print warning of the cameras.

If one of my complaints is successful I'l list the points on my thread for all to repeat. More the merrier.

As is very often the case.

But because some suit at retail Head Offices have believed the pitch from a PPC they stick with it, despite complaints.

What it needs is MORE COMPLAINTS. Just a thought, as we will be advising a POPLA appeal from October onwards, for any AOS scheme fake PCNs, I am just musing that for the sake of an extra envelope & stamp, or cc in an email, we may as well hit the retailers with a copy of the appeal/denial every time as well.

It would need a covering letter or explanatory forwarding note on an email stating something like 'I don't take kindly to having to waste my time appealing against a fake PCN issued in your car park just because I was shopping. See attached formal appeal to the independent adjudicator - but WHY should I have to do this? Your agents are acting unreasonably and have no power to fine anyone. Yet I am having to jump through hoops to justify my parking in your customer car park. This whole situation stinks and brings the good name of 'Freshco' {insert Supermarket name} into disrepute.

I am now an ex-customer unless you cancel it forthwith and apologise.'

What we may then find is that the PPC is charged £32 by POPLA but then told by the retailer to cancel the fake PCN anyway. LOL!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
