MSE News: Yodel boss: No apology for delays but 'deliveries getting better'

its a cheap service
timed delivery slots arent the sort of thing you get at the budget end.
At least it looks like they'll soon be telling you whether it'll be a morning slot or afternoon slot but I can see it's not fair to expect much for the price they charge. I do seem to experience more problems from Royal Mail/Parcelforce ATM so I'm not knocking Yodel. If anything I was just questioning whether the delivery drivers delivering in the evening were doing so as a second income.0 -
My first experience with Yodel. Website implies delivery attempted 8th ( at least depot ..... on van .... back to depot ). No card. just rang them and apparently driver put ''no access''. I asked what that meant and girl said ''it might be roads closed'' - nothing like that here on the 8th. They'll re-attempt delivery next Monday, I'm not holding my breath. I think they can't find me, we're in the country so they just give up.0

Lying bar stewards.
When I order for delivery if it's Yodel or City link I just cancel the order and find another seller. It's just pointless trusting them.
Lie after lie after lie.Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
Actively hunting down the person who invented the imaginary tenure, "share freehold"; if you can show me one I will produce my daughter's unicorn0 -
In their previous incarnation as HDNL, they actually lied to Marks & Spencer about an attempted delivery, saying that I didn't answer the door. When challenged to produce the tracker from their van, lo and behold.....they hadn't even been within a mile of my house.
As Yodel, they managed to tell Mothercare that there was no-one in when they tried to deliver during the day. To my office, where about 120 people work....there was no-one in....yeah, right.
so now, I follow this process with any online companies:
1. What Courier do you use?
2. If Yodel, can I collect it from your store instead?
3. If not, can I have an alternative courier?
4. If you only use Yodel and I can't collect it from your store, sorry, I'll go elsewhere.
You pay peanuts, you get......the picture.0 -
Pherhaps Yodel and City Link could publish list detailing on who the deliver for. Sometimes when ordering online its not clear who the ocurier is going to be until the horroro of the ciy link or yo del tracking number. As above I avoid retailers who use these idiots
I had issues with alleged failed deliveries, I belive city link charge for these. I know also city link driviers are suppose to take a photo with there modules on a failed deliveries. Its almost hilarious when they send you two completely different photos of a randon front door to sender.!0 -
Interesting article after the 2 seperate problems I have had with Yodel about 2-3 weeks ago. One order from Amazon and one from an online canvas shop.
They kept saying they tried delivery and left a card when the work address the package was being sent to is open 8-6. They never tried as I can see all the lorries coming in all day.
They then started saying they kept coming at about 6:15pm for a few days. I understand they delivery up to 7 or 9pm but what offices are open after 5:30/6??
Finally a week later they dropped it off at our other site 1 mile down the road!!! Terrible company.0 -
Yodel are the WOOOOORST courier company in the country! There is a very good reason for this...... They pay their delivery drivers next to nothing! There's a big story to this company and it saddens me that the company treats its drivers like peasants!
I know this because i was a courier driver for them. I would deliver around 80 parcels a day in a rural area which requires a lot of driving around as many addresses I had to deliver to were house names deep in the countryside.
Whenever I could not find an address i would write UTL for that parcel (Unable To Locate) and take it back to the depot and try again the next possible day.
I was being paid £1.30 per parcel which is £104. After expenses with fuel and the cost of the van per day which was averaging £70 per day I would have about £34 profit. A days work would consist of 7am till 6pm approx. So for an 11 hours day work I would earn about £34!
This works out to just over £3 an hour!!!
Yodel do NOT respect or look after the drivers and so there is a very high turn over rate of drivers leaving... and i was one of them.
I did my job to a high standard and went out of my way to deliver parcels to the customers and still got treated badly.
I noticed a lot of parcels and wine in particular that got damaged in the ware house and also flowers that got chucked around. The latest news is that they could be losing Amazon as a client due to so many parcels going missing and getting damaged. If Yodel loses amazon then they are finished for good!
If they just paid the drivers more and looked after them, then the service would increase to a much better standard.
One of Yodel's mottos is to serve and respect one another, which is the complete opposite to what they do.
The customer service in the office is non existant and often would see the phones ringing off the hook with no one bothering to answer them!
Yodel's slogan on the vans is "Your Delivery, Your Call!" It should be changed to or just added onto Yodel ~ "Your Delivery, Your Call and Not My Problem!"
Do not use or ever work for Yodel as they simply DO NOT CARE about the drivers OR the customers.
I would use TNT or Interlink if you want to ever see your parcels!
Take it from me... I worked for them and was ashamed to represent such a careless and spineless company. It will be interesting to see when they go bust! They have and are losing so much business due to their awful service, that it really is just a question of time before they go down the pan!!!:mad::mad:0 -
Yodel are shocking
Post on their website that the item was delivered and signed for by myself and I've recieved nothing!?
No wonder they don't have a contact number, they'd receive so many complaints they wouldn't be able to do anything else0
